  1. Tykes turn to spin at Worcesterpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Worcestershire 55-1 v Yorkshire

After 26 overs of the morning session, Yorkshire turn to spin as young Tykes debutant James Logan comes on for his first bowl.

The 20-year-old Wakefield-born slow left-armer bowls a tidy first over in first-class cricket, going for just two off it.

WICKET Vince lbw Bohannon 22published at 12:09 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Hampshire 63-3 v Lancashire

There is the first of the 24 points Lancashire need to have any chance of remaining in Division One next season. Medium-pacer Josh Bohannon claims a notable scalp by removing Hampshire's captain, who pays the penalty for playing across the line. Opener Oliver Soames is still there on 19 not out.

  3. wicket

WICKET Azhar c Wessels b Gurney 19published at 12:06 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Somerset 75-2 v Nottinghamshire

Notts have their second success at Trent Bridge as Azhar Ali edges low to first slip, ending a 67-run stand with Marcus Trescothick, who is 42 not out. James Hildreth is in at number four, just 48 runs short of his 1,000 for the season.

WICKET Kuhn c Sibley b Stone 15published at 12:02 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 55-3 v Warwickshire

A breakthrough for Olly Stone - and Warwickshire are back on top of the Div Two table again.

Heino Kuhn is caught chasing a swinging, slightly wide one off Stone to earn the Bears their first bowling bonus point!

New man in is teenager Ollie Robinson, on only his third County Championship appearance.

  5. wicket

WICKET Jacks b Cook 0published at 12:00 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Surrey 48-5 v Essex

Having their backs to the wall is certainly not a position Surrey have found themselves in very often this summer, if at all. But they can certainly feel the brickwork between their shoulder blades now as Will Jacks attempts an airy drive and is bowled through the gate.

England's Ollie Pope is still out there on 20 not out following treatment after a bang on the helmet, and Ryan Patel is the new batsman at the crease.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

Middlesex are in bother at the Riverside, where Durham have reduced them to 77-5 in the 18th over, with Matt Salisbury having taken 4-25 so far.

Derbyshire have advanced to 75-1 in the 22nd in their home game against Gloucestershire, with opener Luis Reece now 46 not out. Wayne Madsen has just gone for 14 after passing 1,000 Championship runs for the season.

Sussex are 73-3 in the 20th over against Northants, with Brett Hutton, Ben Cotton and Nathan Buck having taken a wicket each for the home side.

Tom Taylor has claimed both Glamorgan wickets to fall in Cardiff, but Stephen Cook (26no) and Kiran Carlson (21no) have steered the Welsh club to 66-2 in the 20th against Leicestershire.

  7. Somerset lay solid foundationpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Somerset 63-1 v Nottinghamshire

Notts skipper Steven Mullaney brings himself on for his first over of the morning and it costs him eight runs as Marcus Trescothick collects back-to-back boundaries to move on to 33 not out.

Azhar Ali picks up four off Harry Gurney, with an authoritative pull shot, and four byes follow from the next delivery as a half-century partnership is raised by Somerset's second-wicket pair.

  8. wicket

WICKET Foakes lbw Quinn 0published at 11:45 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Surrey 41-4 v Essex

Two in two for Matt Quinn as Ben Foakes plays down the wrong line and gives the umpire an easy decision.

Will Jacks survives the hat-trick delivery - but Surrey have some major rebuilding to do.

  9. wicket

    Surrey 41-3 v Essex

Matt Quinn is making only his third Championship appearance of the season but he has arguably the most prized Surrey wicket as FEO (future England openers) Rory Burns falls at The Oval, brilliantly caught one-handed by Simon Harmer at second slip. It's been very much Essex's morning so far.

  10. Kuhn and Denly rebuildpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 39-2 v Warwickshire

Joe Denly and Heino Kuhn have settled things down for Kent at Edgbaston after the loss of those two early wickets.

Denly, called up by England's Test tour party for Sri Lanka last week, has already moved on to 15. But another member of that tour squad, Olly Stone, is now on for Warwickshire.

  11. England pair together for Surreypublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Surrey 39-2 v Essex

Ollie Pope announced his arrival at the crease with a couple of early boundaries but he and Rory Burns are being made to work hard by the Essex seamers at The Oval. Jamie Porter has taken 2-19 from his seven overs, with Matt Quinn now into the attack at the other end.

After being tied down at the start of his innings, Marcus Trescothick has now achieved a measure of fluency at Trent Bridge, with five boundaries so far, including a superbly timed drive through mid-off from the bowling of Luke Fletcher, who has now been taken off to be replaced by Harry Gurney.

Trescothick is 23 not out and partner Azhar Ali has six.

  14. wicket

WICKET Fell c Leaning b Bresnan 19published at 11:23 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Worcestershire 29-1 v Yorkshire

Tom Fell is first to go at New Road as he edges the first ball of Tim Bresnan's second over to third slip.

The arrival of Moeen Ali at the crease gets a rousing reception from the home fans.

This is his first appearance since leading Worcestershire to victory in the T20 Blast nine days ago. And, thanks to that unfortunate ticket shortage at Edgbaston, too few of the Pears faithful were there to see it.

    Hampshire 20-2 v Lancashire

    Sport Presenter, BBC Radio Solent

Poor Jimmy Adams. He’s playing in his final game for Hampshire, and his first innings has ended in a 10-ball duck.

He first played in 1999, first-class debut in 2002 and it’s all come down to this, his 233rd and last match.

Not an easy time to bat as the ball is nipping around a little bit. Tom Bailey bowled the ball full and Adams nicked off to slip.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

Away from Edgbaston, here's the latest from the four other games:

Sussex are 36-1 after 10 overs against Northants, with Phil Salt the batsman dismissed, caught in the slips by Alex Wakely off Brett Hutton for 20.

It's a similar situation at Cardiff where Glamorgan are 32-1 in the 10th against Leicestershire, Nick Selman having fallen lbw to Tom Taylor for 14.

Durham's Matt Salisbury has picked up the wicket for Nick Gubbins for 19 at the Riverside, where Middlesex are 38-1 in the 10th after home skipper Paul Collingwood was given a guard of honour as he walked onto the field for his last first-class match.

Luis Reece is going well on 29 not out for Derbyshire, who are 39-1 in the 11th over against Gloucestershire after Billy Godleman was bowled by Warwickshire-bound Craig Miles for eight.

  17. wicket

WICKET Dickson lbw Barker 9published at 11:08 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Kent 20-2 v Warwickshire

A second wicket for Warwickshire in the battle of the top two at Edgbaston as Sean Dickson is trapped leg before wicket by Keith Barker.

Lancashire-born left-armer Barker, who will sit down with the club to discuss a new contract offer at the end of the season, has had a fine closing month or so.

This is his sixth game since the end of the T20 Blast - and he has now taken 22 wickets, including a match haul of 8-63 in the innings win over Leicestershire at Grace Road.

    Worcestershire 21-0 v Yorkshire

Tom Fell is now off and running for Worcestershire. He has rapidly moved on to 15, with boundaries off both Ben Coad and Jack Brooks.

On a used pitch, Yorkshire may be disappointed not to have already made a breakthough in the first 10 overs.

  19. wicket

WICKET Weatherley c Davies b Gleeson 7published at 11:05 British Summer Time 24 September 2018

    Hampshire 15-1 v Lancashire

Joe Weatherley only has himself to blame for that as he tries to square cut a ball from Richard Gleeson that is too close to him and edges to the keeper.

Out comes Jimmy Adams for the penultimate innings of his Hampshire career before retiring. If he scores enough runs, it might the final innings of his career.

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Ed Smith answered quite a lot of questions last week following the announcement of England's squads to tour Sri Lanka. Here's another one for him. What does Jamie Porter have to do to get a Test cap?

Division One's most consistent wicket-taker strikes again at The Oval as Jason Roy's innings lasts just six deliveries. The new champions in a spot of early trouble against their predecessors.
