  1. 50 runs

50 for Jack Brookspublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 363-8

Only Jack Brooks' fifth first-class half-century in his final match for Yorkshire, to come on top of his six-wicket haul with the ball.

Gary Ballance then blasts another boundary to reach 174.

And the Yorkshire lead is already up to 23. The stand is up to 131.

  2. new ball

New ball for Worcestershirepublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 358-8

Ed Barnard takes the new ball for Worcestershire - but with no immediate success.

Jack Brooks sends his third ball to the boundary with a check drive to reach 42, his best score of the season. But two balls later he edges and is dropped at slip by Daryl Mitchell. And there's six more (a four and two in successive balls) in the next over off Dillon Pennington.

  3. 50 runs

for Steven Mullaneypublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Somerset 463 v Nottinghamshire 133 & 107-1

Not Steven Mullaney's finest moment with the bat, but he won't be complaining after under-edging an attempted drive past the keeper for four to bring up a 77-ball half-century.

Somerset have just brought England spinner Jack Leach into the attack after he was surplus to requirements during the Notts first innings.

  4. Middlesex take the leadpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Middlesex 121 & 193-1 v Durham 310

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Things couldn't have gone much better for Middlesex this afternoon as they have wiped out their deficit of 189 for the loss of just one wicket.

That's thanks to a partnership of 137 in 34 overs from Stevie Eskinazi (83) and Nick Gubbins (72).

It's a complete contrast to their first innings total of 121 all out but the pitch appears to have flattened a lot today. With 12 overs left on day two how big will their lead be?

  5. wicket

WICKET Dawson c Davies b Bailey 37published at 17:14 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Hampshire 184 & 131-7 v Lancashire 273

Can Hampshire at least surpass their first-innings total? It's looking doubtful after Liam Dawson is caught behind down the leg-side off Tom Bailey. The home side are just 45 ahead as Gareth Berg comes to the crease.

  6. Essex turn to spinpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Surrey 67 & 53-0 v Essex 477-8 dec

The Essex seamers are paying the price for straying onto the pads too often, with Mark Stoneman (35) and Rory Burns (17) happy to tuck them away for boundaries.

Unsurprisingly, spinner Simon Harmer has been introduced following his unbeaten hundred in Essex's first innings and immediately finds some turn outside off stump.

  7. 100 runs

100 partnership for Tykespublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 347-8

Worcestershire's attack are really being made to suffer now as Yorkshire take the lead with an edged four.

Gary Ballance has made a superb season's best 170.

And, having reached his century partnership with Jack Brooks (38 - also matching his season's best) in just 18 overs, that stand has now reached 115.

Worcestershire are just one over away from the option of the new ball.

  8. Dawson on songpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Hampshire 187 & 126-6 v Lancashire 273

Three fours in the same Richard Gleeson over for Hampshire's Liam Dawson, who moves to 37 not out. Their lead, though, is only 40.

  9. Tidy start for Kentpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Kent 167 & 5-0, Warwickshire 380

After opening up with a four off the very first ball from Keith Barker, Sean Dickson has made a sound start with fellow Kent opener Zak Crawley at Edgbaston.

Three overs gone. 10 more to go tonight. No alarms yet.

  10. Notts pair build standpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Somerset 463 v Nottinghamshire 133 & 85-1

Somerset appear to have run out of steam a bit after their efforts earlier in the day. There has been a bit of playing and missing, but Steven Mullaney (44) and Ben Slater (30) have added 72 so far for Notts after they were forced to follow-on. However, they still trail by 241.

  11. Stoneman makes fast startpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Surrey 67 & 34-0 v Essex 477-8 dec

Mark Stoneman appears to be in a bit of a hurry at The Oval. The Surrey opener hit three fours in Jamie Porter's last over and has just added another off Matt Quinn. He has 27 from 17 balls so far, with Rory Burns on six at the other end.

  12. Division Two updatepublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

Two wickets by Ollie Robinson may have sown a seed or two in Northamptonshire minds, but they are 64-2, chasing a target of 170 to beat Sussex, with Ben Curran 35 not out.

Stevie Eskinazi is 61 not out and Nick Gubbins has 56, with Middlesex 155-1 against Durham - just 34 away from clearing their first-innings deficit.

Dieter Klein is in his second over for Leicestershire and has 2-0 so far, with Glamorgan 39-3 - but the Welsh county are 266 ahead.

Craig Miles and Ryan Higgins have three wickets each, with Derbyshire 140-9 against Gloucestershire. The home side's lead is 161.

  13. 150 runs

150 for Gary Ballancepublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 322-8

Gary Ballance goes to his 150 at New Road with a four and a six in successive balls off Dillon Pennington.

  14. 300 runs

300 up for Yorkshirepublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 311-8

That did not look so likely when the Tykes were 193-7. But Gary Ballance has so far hit 140 in helping to reduce the arrears almost to nothing.

The stand with Jack Brooks (29) is now up to 79.

  15. dropped catch

Close call for Stonemanpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Surrey 67 & 15-0 v Essex 477-8 dec

Ouch. Mark Stoneman edges an angled delivery by Matt Quinn, it flicks the end of Michael Pepper's gloves and hits first slip Murali Vijay on the knee.

That should really have been taken by the replacement keeper and it's unlikely the first words that came into Vijay's mind were 'Unlucky, son'.

  16. Sub keeper on for Essexpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Surrey 67 & 6-0 v Essex 477-8 dec

Jamie Porter comes charging in at The Oval, flashing one lifting delivery past the outside edge of Mark Stoneman's bat and into the gloves of Michael Pepper, who is on the field for Essex because Adam Wheater was struck on the thumb while batting. That apart, the opening over is comfortably dealt with by the Surrey openers.

  17. wicket

WICKET Patel c Dickson b Denly 32published at 16:39 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

Kent 167, Warwickshire 380 all out

Warwickshire skipper Jeetan Patel is last out for 32, caught at slip off Joe Denly.

It's a third wicket for Denly - and a highest first-class score of the season for Patel.

The Bears are finally bowled out for 380 - a lead of 213.

15 overs for Kent's openers to face before the close of play tonight.

  18. 50 runs

50 partnership for Yorkshirepublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 291-8

Gary Ballance and Jack Brooks have now put on 59 for Yorkshire as the Tykes close in on an unlikely first-innings lead.

    Ballance is on a season's best 132.

Brooks, on 28, is within 10 runs of a season's best too.

  19. Notts make solid startpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Somerset 463 v Nottinghamshire 133 & 58-1

Nottinghamshire are faring rather better in their second innings with Steven Mullaney 28 not out and Ben Slater on 15 after following on. They still need another 272, though to avoid an innings defeat.

  20. Hampshire decline continuespublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Hampshire 187 & 92-6 v Lancashire 273

While we were focusing on Simon Harmer's hundred for Essex, Lancashire medium-pacer Josh Bohannon made it two wickets in one over by bowling Ian Holland for four with a ball that cut back sharply from outside off stump.

Lewis McManus is now out in the middle with Liam Dawson for Hampshire, who are just six runs ahead with only four wickets ahead.

Lancashire may be going down, but they're going down with heads held high.
