  2. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Kent 167, Warwickshire 235-3

After being totally outplayed on day one, a much better morning for Kent at Edgbaston.

They have taken three wickets to claim a first bonus point in this match - and good scalps too. All Warwickshire's three top run scorers this season, overnight centurion Will Rhodes, Ian Bell and the soon-to-retire Jonathan Trott, in his final game.

But, with a lead so far of 69, Bears vice-captain Dom Sibley looks well set on 82, having looked a lot more fluent today, scoring 45 of the 88 runs in the session. Sam Hain is on 3.

  3. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 83-3

A decent reply from Yorkshire after Worcestershire were bowled out for 340, having added 21 runs to their overnight score.

But then they lost Jeet Raval to the last ball before lunch, as he gives himself room to cut, but misjudges the bounce and plays on to spinner Ben Twohig.

That's a first wicket against his native county for the Dewsbury-born slow left-armer.

A first bowling bonus point for the already relegated Pears.

  4. wicket

WICKET Westley c Foakes b Clarke 134published at 12:29 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Surrey 67 v Essex 282-6 - lunch

A disappointing end to Tom Westley's superb innings as he tries to flick away a leg-stump delivery by Rikki Clarke, but only gets an inside edge and wicketkeeper Ben Foakes takes a sprawling catch.

Wesley batted for 384 minutes, faces 282 balls and hit 21 boundaries. Essex are 215 ahead - and that is lunch.

  5. Raval in the runspublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 83-2

After only 50 runs in his first five County Championship innings for Yorkshire, New Zealand international Jeet Raval was due a few.

And, although it's slow going, having so far taken almost an hour and a half, he is now on to 21 - his best score for the Tykes.

  6. Hampshire keep it tightpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Hampshire 187 v Lancashire 222-6

It's slow going just now for Lancashire with only 15 runs in seven and a bit overs since the dismissal of Dane Vilas.

South African paceman Kyle Abbott is probing away, with spinner Liam Dawson tying up the other end. Rob Jones is 65 not out for the Red Rose, with partner Josh Bohannon on six.

  7. Notts pair settle inpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Somerset 463 v Nottinghamshire 40-1

Nottinghamshire have steadied the nerves a bit following Jake Libby's exit in the first over of their innings. Ben Slater has 23 not out after a boundary off Lewis Gregory, with Steven Mullaney on 14.

Remember, a score of 300 keeps Mullaney's side in Division One for 2019.

  8. wicket

WICKET Ten Doeschate c Pope b Dernbach 27published at 12:16 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Surrey 67 v Essex 276-5

    Jade DernbachImage source, Rex Features

A fine delivery from Jade Dernbach squares up Ryan ten Doeschate and the ball flies off the edge to gully, where Ollie Pope pouches the catch. Essex 209 ahead as Adam Wheater walks to the middle.

  9. Essex lead now over 200published at 12:12 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Surrey 67 v Essex 276-4

The new ball has not brought reward yet for Surrey with Tom Westley and Ryan ten Doeschate building another significant partnership for Essex at The Oval.

Westley is 129 not out, with 20 fours so far, and ten Doeschate has 27 against his name after a four in the last over, bowled by Rikki Clarke..

  10. Division Two updatepublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

All-rounder Luis Reece finishes with career-best figures of 7-20 as Derbyshire bowl out Gloucestershire for 163 - a first-innings lead of 21 runs.

Gareth Harte is still there on 107 not out for Durham, who are 304-8 against Middlesex - 183 runs ahead.

Leicestershire have reached 28-1 after 13 overs against Glamorgan, having dismissed the Welsh county for 359 earlier this morning.

Luke Wells (34*) and Harry Finch (37*) have so far added 74 for Sussex at Northampton. The visitors are 79-2 in their second innings, 26 runs in front.

  11. wicket

WICKET Trott c Stevens b Podmore 8published at 11:58 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Kent 167, Warwickshire 223-3

Jonathan Trott is out for just 8.

Possibly his last innings in first-class cricket.

If it was, what a cruel way to go. Looking for runs, he clipped Harry Podmore through midwicket only for Darren Stevens, one of the few men older than him left in county cricket (at 42), to reach out one-handed and take a great catch.

After a guard of honour on his way to the wicket, Trott get a great reception on the way back too.

More importantly for Kent, after getting his scalp, it's a first bowling bonus point.

  12. wicket

WICKET Vilas c and b Dawson 27published at 11:57 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Hampshire 187 v Lancashire 207-6

A setback for Lancashire as Dane Vilas comes down the pitch but mis-hits a return catch to spinner Liam Dawson after an 84-run partnership with Rob Jones.

The Red Rose must now put their faith in youth as 21-year-old Josh Bohannon comes out to join Jones, just one year his senior.

Lancashire have not achieved maximum batting points since they did so against Hampshire at Old Trafford in June. Their last five first-innings totals have been 109, 247, 161, 99 and 252.

  13. wicket

WICKET Leaning b Tongue 13published at 11:55 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Worcestershire 340, Yorkshire 45-2

A second wicket for Worcestershire as Yorkshire number three Jack Leaning is beaten for pace and bowled through the gate by Josh Tongue.

It's a 38th Championship wicket of the season for Tongue. How many more might he have got had he not missed two months of the season with a metatarsal injury?

Gary Ballance is the new man in.

  14. 50 runs

for Rob Jonespublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Hampshire 187 v Lancashire 207-5

Rob Jones reaches a 56-ball fifty with two runs off Liam Dawson and begins the latest over by Gareth Berg with a boundary. He is going very well, but Lancashire need him to keep it going - 70 or 80 won't do. They need a big hundred from him, if possible.

  15. Lancashire forge aheadpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Hampshire 187 v Lancashire 196-5

Lancashire are now out in front at the Ageas Bowl, with Dane Vilas picking up a boundary in Gareth Berg's latest over to move on to 27 not out. Partner Rob Jones is on 44, their partnership is worth 73, and Lancashire's first precious batting point is only four runs away.

  16. wicket

    WICKET Libby c C Overton b Gregory 0published at 11:42 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Somerset 463 v Nottinghamshire 0-1

Well, well, well. It's a quick turnaround at Trent Bridge and maybe Jake Libby should have taken a few more seconds to gather his thoughts.

He tries to drive Lewis Gregory's second delivery, the ball rebounds out of the hands of fourth slip and Craig Overton dives forward from third to take the catch.

And that's quite a big dive, given how tall Overton is (1.96m or almost 6ft 5 in old money).

  17. wicket

    WICKET J Overton c Carter b Patel 55published at 11:35 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Somerset 463 v Notinghamshire

Jamie Overton falls one run short of his highest score as he tries to hammer Samit Patel for six but is caught at long-on by Matt Carter.

The pressure now, though, is on the Notts batsmen who need to score over 300 to earn the bonus points that will ensure Division One survival.

  18. Division Two updatepublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

Gareth Harte has completed a magnificent 196-ball century for Durham. They are 281-7 and 160 ahead against Middlesex at the Riverside.

Sussex have managed to halt the fall of wickets for the time being against Northants. They are 39-2 in their second innings, with Harry Finch 20 not out, but still 14 behind.

After bowling out Glamorgan for 359, Leicestershire are 5-1 in the fifth over of their reply, with Sam Evans having been bowled by Michael Hogan for one.

Derbyshire's Luis Reece has completed a five-for against Gloucestershire by having Jack Taylor caught behind. The visitors are 145-7 and are still 39 behind.

  19. wicket

WICKET Bell lbw Podmore 16published at 11:32 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Kent 167, Warwickshire 203-2

After a lively start, Ian Bell is trapped leg before by a ball from Harry Podmore which kept low.

New man at the wicket is former England batsman Jonathan Trott, playing in his final game before retirement.

Trott gets a guard of honour on his way to the wicket - and a handshake from Kent captain Sam Billings.

He needs 73 today to reach 1,000 runs in a county season for the ninth time.

  20. wicket

WICKET Davey lbw Fletcher 21published at 11:27 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

    Somerset 457-9 v Nottinghamshire

Somerset's ninth-wicket partnership must have really hurt Notts - but it's over now as Luke Fletcher removes Josh Davey. The Scot added 63 in 11 overs with Jamie Overton, who is 54 not out as last man Jack Leach joins him at the crease.
