Get involved: Comedy run outspublished at 08:26 British Summer Time 20 October 2018

Fittingly after Dasun Shanaka's dismissal, The Cricket Social team are talking about comical run outs.

It comes after this special effort (or lack of it) from Pakistan pair Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq against Australia this week.

    Thisara 24, Akila 3

Morgan keeps faith with Stone despite that poor last over.

Thisara tries to whacks him for another six but the ball lands perfectly between three England fielders. Thisara then picks out Adil Rashid on the edge of the circle and can only manage one.

Good over from Stone. Five from it.

    Thisara 22, Akila 0

That wicket could cost Sri Lanka big time. Dasun Shanaka had played probably the best innings from a Sri Lankan this series. He had just hit two sixes off Stone in the previous over. He could have taken Sri Lanka to a competitive total.

All eyes are on Thisara Perera now. Akila Dananjaya with his average of 12 can't get a run off his first three deliveries.

Shanaka run out (Morgan) 66 (SL 212-6)

Just when Dasun Shanaka looked like he could take Sri Lanka to a threatening total, he is run out horribly.

Thisara is on strike and nudges the ball into the off side. Both men set off without thinking and Shanaka is eight or nine paces down the pitch before turning back. Eoin Morgan keeps his head and calm lobs the ball back to Chris Woakes who takes the bails off before Shanaka can get back.

    Oh, they haven't have they?

A kamikaze run and Dasun Shanaka might been run out here.

There is a feeling England might be a spinner light here. If Sri Lanka get 260 it could be challenging.

And again! It's a slower ball from Olly Stone but right in the slot. Dasun Shanaka hits this one over mid off for six.

That's 17 runs from the over from Stone's, including three wides.

The boundaries are in a bit today because of all the rain - they've had to allow more room for the water to run off when taking the covers on and off.

Big! Dasun Shanaka doesn't get all of this but it still clears Jason Roy at mid-wicket and goes for six.

Olly Stone is missing his mark here.

  13. SL 196-5published at 40 overs

Now Olly Stone comes back into the attack. He starts with a wide.

I want to keep an eye on Stone's pace here. Liam Plunkett breathing down his neck for a place in the team for the fifth ODI.

One of the umpires on duty is the marvellously-named Lyndon Hannibal. Hopefully everyone behaves so they're not on the end of a... Hannibal Lecture. Ahem.

Into the final 10 overs we go...

Thisara Perera tries to whack Woakes into the jungle but doesn't find the middle of his bat. Olly Stone rushes back and keeps the runs down to two.

270 might make a game of this with Sri Lanka's spin-heavy attack.

Four more. Stokes is now full and wide and Shanaka's eyes light up. With a big swish the ball races through the covers.

That brings up Shanaka's second fifty in ODI cricket. He's been impressive.

England are just the better team. They've got more tools, more options, more power. And the spin twins Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid have again proved how vital they are to this team.

  19. SL 185-5published at 39.3 overs

Dasan Shanaka may have realised it's time to get on with things. Short from Stokes and the Sri Lankan right-hander climbs into it and pulls for four.

The crowd love it. This is their team's best batting showing so far in this series.
