  1. Eng 81-4published at 15 overs

    Stokes 35, Moeen 30

Ben Stokes puts in a reverse sweep and limps through for a single. You hope he's not doing himself some serious damage in batting through this leg injury.

Moeen Ali then gets a conventional sweep away for four.

Top reply from Akil, spinning it away and just past the left-handed Moeen's outside edge. from round the wicket.

Sri Lanka's premier spinner Akila Dananjaya is on to bowl his mix of offies and leggies.

Can he pick up a couple of quick wickets and kill off England?

  3. Eng 74-4published at 14 overs

Need 293 more runs to win

Mo's gonna give this a go.

The all-rounder again picks it up and lofts the ball out through the mid-wicket area for four.

    Eng 70-4published at 13.4 overs

    Oh Mo.

What a strike that is! Moeen Ali swiping a full ball from Dhananjaya de Silva over wide long-on for England's first six of the innings.

  5. Eng 62-4published at 13 overs

    Stokes 31, Moeen 15

It's not quite sensational but it's very good from Moeen Ali as he whacks a short ball on the pull for four.

That's four more! Ben Stokes tees off with a golf shot through mid-wicket to the fence.

He then advances and top edges a cut away for another boundary. Not convincing, but effective. He finds the fielder with the last and winces in obvious pain again.

Thisara Perera leaks 13 runs from the over.

England are just pottering along. Stokes and Moeen are having a bit of a net. They have been totally outplayed today. It would need something sensational to win from here.

This is why I'm skeptical of our World Cup chances. Yes we are the best ODI team in the world - we can beat anyone in the world over five matches. But we always have one match like this where the wheels just come off. That can't happen if you're going to win a knockout tournament.

  8. Eng 49-4published at 12 overs

Sri Lanka introduce spin as Dhananjaya de Silva comes into the attack.

And it's a very tidy first over, limiting England to just three.

Ben Stokes' shirt is absolutely sodden with sweat.

Since May 2016, Eng have played 53 completed matches with 41 wins. Despite that, they have the second worst economy rate in the world.

  10. Eng 46-4published at 11 overs

    Target 367

Replays show Ben Stokes was struck on the thigh earlier and hobble a bit after that.

It looks more like his calf that is preventing him running full pelt though.

He gingerly jogs through for a couple of singles off Thisara Perera's first over.

Ben Stokes is having a banana and some water, seemingly suffering a calf strain or perhaps cramp.

There have been a lot of stoppages in England's innings so far.

  12. Eng 41-4published at 10 overs

    Stokes 20, Moeen 5

Just a single off the over.

Probably not what England had in mind for the first powerplay.

Jos Buttler looks thoroughly sick of this captaincy lark on the balcony.

Sky Sports are now showing highlights of Moeen Ali's century on this ground in 2014.

    "So you're saying there's a chance?"

England's biggest loss in one-day internationals in terms of runs is 165 runs which they have suffered twice, against Pakistan in Karachi in 2005 and also against West Indies in Kingstown in 1994.

  15. Eng 40-4published at 9 overs

    Target 367

Ben Stokes waits for the back of a length ball and swipes it over mid-wicket for four.

The ball reaches the boundary easily enough but certainly not as quickly as it did in the Sri Lanka innings. The dew perhaps playing a role.

Eoin Morgan is out there between overs with a drink, a towel and some words of advice.

Sri Lanka have been better all-round today. Better in the field, better with the ball and better with the bat.

  18. Eng 36-4published at 8.1 overs

Dinesh Chandimal races after a Ben Stokes drive and stops it superbly just inside the rope.

Ah, I typed too soon. Slow-mo replays reveal his right wrist was actually still in contact with the ball as his left hand hit the rope.

That's four but still a cracking effort. Where have this Sri Lanka been?

That was one of the all-time great wicketkeeping appeals. It was like the end of a particularly enthusiastic haka.

  20. Eng 32-4published at 8 overs

Chameera rushes Moeen with a well-directed bumper and the England all-rounder hooks loosely at it.

Dickwella puts in a massive appeal for caught behind but nothing doing there.
