Maybe Australia will actually bowl too fast in the Ashes.

What's Mark Ealham up to these days?

It was loose. He has picked up two wickets - and he's not even swinging it. He's not bowling too fast, which is key in this match.

    McCollum b Curran 19 (Ire 45-2)

Well perhaps that is the pressure of joining up dot balls telling.

James McCollum tries an expansive drive to a ball that Sam Curran is bringing into the right-hander from round the wicket.

The Ireland opener can only get an inside edge on it to chop it on to his own stumps.

Curran strikes again. Can England get on a run here?

  6. Ire 45-1published at 18 overs

    Broad 7-5-6-0

Stuart Broad bowls a fifth maiden in seven overs. Still feels a bit too short and wide and too easy for the Ireland batsmen to leave.

It could at least put some pressure on Ireland if England can dry up the scoring from both ends.

Stuart Broad conceded just six runs from six overs in his opening spell but did not hit the right line and length often enough.

He needs a good showing in this Test to be sure of his place for the Ashes opener.

Can he make the breakthrough for England here?

So England's Ashes prep is so precise they are even recreating the inevitable batting collapse and ensuing struggles to try and stay in the game! Now that is thorough preparation!

If the ball doesn't swing for England, life becomes difficult.

  10. Ire 45-1published at 17 overs

    Trail by 40

James McCollum drives nicely down the ground but the ball is pulled up inside the rope for just a couple.

Sam Curran strays onto the pads and McCollum whips it firmly round the corner for four.

That takes Ireland past half of England's score for the loss of just one wicket.

    Stone 4-1-11-0

Olly Stone sends down a wide one outside off that James McCollum flashes at a bit recklessly and misses.

A very tidy maiden over by Stone.

That was beautifully put away. No need to run.

Sam Curran pushes it wide and Andrew Balbirnie gets off the mark with a superb square drive for four. Bad ball, put away with aplomb.

I still expect England to win from here. As long as they can restrict Ireland to 220 they are still in this game!

  17. Ire 33-1published at 14 overs

    Well bowled, Olly Stone.

The England debutant gets the last ball of his third over between the inside edge of Andrew Balbirnie's bat and off stump.

  18. Ire 33-1published at 13.3 overs

Close! James McCollum inside edges Olly Stone onto his pads and just past the dive of Rory Burns at short leg.

That's a wicket maiden for Sam Curran.
