Porterfield is normally a good puller. I wonder if being rattled on the helmet by Stone had an effect.

Olly Stone might have set up that wicket by hitting William Porterfield on the helmet.
He had been so watchful before then but seemed a bit frenzied in taking on the pull there.

A hugely disappointing shot.

A 74mph drag down and William Porterfield cloths it. An easier catch you will not see. Sam Curran, the golden arm for England in 2018, strikes.
Porterfield c Leach b Curran 14 (Ire 32-1)
An absolutely woeful dismissal and a real bonus for England.
Sam Curran starts with a long hop and William Porterfield tries to pull it away.
But the Ireland captain completely miscues it and tamely chips the ball straight to Jack Leach at mid-wicket.
I guess bowling in the 70s is the way forward on this pitch.
Stumps beware. Here comes Sam Curran.

Peter Miller: The winner gets to play Australia for the Ashes, right?
Porterfield 14, McCollum 11
William Porterfield is indeed fine to carry on and pushes the first ball after the drinks break through the covers for three.
An English bowler will definitely bowl a good length and at the stumps today, Peter.
It might just be Darren Stevens for Derbyshire in the T20 Blast, rather than anyone in this Test.

Is there ANY chance that one English bowler will bowl a good length and at the stumps?!
Peter, Paddock Wood
A rare bit of cricketing sense as the drinks break is called while Porterfield is assessed to ensure no further time is lost.
They are having two drinks breaks a session today because of the heat.
A sharp, well-directed bouncer from Olly Stone and it cracks into William Porterfield's helmet.
Umpire Aleem Dar immediately calls for the medics for the mandatory concussion test. The Ireland captain looks OK.
That was 88mph from Stone.
Jofra Archer does predictive tweets for England.
Andy Balbirnie does so for Ireland...

Stuart Broad bowls another maiden.
He's conceded only six runs off six overs so far without looking all that threatening.

Sam Curran would be full and straight - he'd attack the pads.

Get Curran on. Full and straight. It's simple cricket.

Stuart Broad continues into his sixth over...

Ireland have been absolutely superb so far. They lost the toss and bowled brilliantly. England have bowled poorly - they haven't made the batsmen play anywhere near enough.
This is now the highest partnership of the Test so far.
Yep.
Olly Stone beats the outside edge of William Porterfield's bat with an 86mph delivery pushed across the left-hander.
A leading edge then streaks through backward point for four.
Stone gets the last ball up to 89mph but it swings away down the leg side.
