Look at the emotion on Stuart Broad's face. He's leading this attack superbly and England are catching well.

England are getting on top. The visitors are under real pressure.

    Balbirnie c Root b Broad 5 (Ire 18-2)

    Gone!

Another fine delivery from Stuart Broad, squaring up Andrew Balbirnie, and the edge flies to Joe Root at first slip. Root gets down low to take a comfortable catch, and Broad goes wheeling away in celebration.

  5. Ire 18-1published at 6.5 overs

Andrew Balbirnie gets himself into a right tangle, hooking at a Stuart Broad short ball, but he somehow fends it just short of Jack Leach in the deep. Oh, he didn't deal with that at all well, the ball bobbling up off the splice of the back.

Some of these 14-a-side warm-up matches against county sides are pointless. Get Ireland or Afghanistan involved and play a proper Test match as preparation for a series.

  8. Ire 15-1published at 6 overs

    Target 182

A little loose from Andrew Balbirnie, pushing away from his body, and the ball takes the edge of the bat before dropping just short of a diving third slip.

  9. Ire 15-1published at 5.1 overs

    Shot!

Andrew Balbirnie gets off the mark with a glorious drive back down the ground for four off Chris Woakes.

When something special, like that Bairstow catch, happens, it's nice to hear the reaction of the crowd. First it's the initial cheer, then a slightly smaller one when a real-time replay is shown. After that, when the brilliance is revealed by a slow-mo, you get a prolonged "oooohhhhhh".

  12. Ire 11-1published at 5 overs

    Target 182

There's movement from Stuart Broad, Jonny Bairstow having to hurry to his right to take a delivery that shapes away from the batsman, but James McCollum is leaving everything well alone.

Another lbw appeal is turned down by the umpire. Height, once again, might have been an issue. Maiden.

Andrew Balbirnie, who top-scored for Ireland in the first innings, is the new man at the crease.

Ireland need another 171 runs and they've got bags of time to get them.

I'm not sure that would have carried to slip.

Stunning grab - absolutely stunning. It swung and he had to go one hand. It was Bairstow's catch - and it was an absolutely brilliant one at that. He looked a bit angry after he caught that, as if to say, 'I'm still England's best Test keeper.'

A beautiful ball. That was a little fuller and just moved enough to get the edge. Good cricket.

    WICKETpublished at 4 overs

    Porterfield c Bairstow b Woakes 7 (Ire 11-1)

    Oh, what a grab!

That is a fine take from Jonny Bairstow, and William Porterfield's uncomfortable innings comes to an end. He gets squared up once again, an outside edge flying low and wide to Bairstow's left. It probably wouldn't have carried to Joe Root at slip so Bairstow throws himself, full stretch, to his left and sticks out a mitt, getting underneath the ball and clinging on even as he falls to the ground.

  17. Ire 11-0published at 3.4 overs

William Porterfield has a huge, inexplicable, yahooing drive at a wide Chris Woakes delivery. Where's that come from? He's lucky that he ends up thrashing at the air, rather than the ball.

McCollum is a good player - he's got a lot of ability. He's been working hard in getting a good stride forward to the ball.
