Eurghhhhh. Joe Denly pushes forward, hits it down and the ball misses his stumps by a centimetre or two.

Tim Paine appeals for caught behind as Joe Denly flicks at a big turner on his first ball. Not out.

Roy wanted to get on top of Nathan Lyon there. When it doesn't work, it looks abysmal. He's absolutely nowhere near the ball.
Jason Roy has missed that by an absolute mile.
Australia will be reminding him of that dismissal all series long.

Ex-Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special
That was ugly, ugly decision making by Jason Roy, in the context of the match.

Oh, that looks terrible. He's come charging at Lyon and the ball spun between bat and body and clattered into the stumps. It looks dreadful when that happens.
Roy b Lyon 28 (Eng 60-2)
No, Jason, not that. No, no, no, no, no.
Jason Roy skips down the pitch, trying to put the pressure back on Nathan Lyon, but misses with an ugly swipe and is bowled through the gate.
That is not a shot you play when trying to save the game.

This day and age, why would you be an umpire? You're under pressure because every delivery is scrutinised over and over. Plus you can't umpire in your home county, so where's the incentive? DRS has put so much extra pressure on them it's ridiculous, and it was meant to do the opposite. Originally I was a big fan of DRS. I'm not now. I'd also get rid of neutral umpires. The best umpires should be operation in a Test.

Whisper it quietly but is the ball starting to soften? I foresee a Jason Roy 130 here, both saving the game and cementing his spot in the Test team.
Bob in Hammersmith
Roy 28, Root 18
Eek. Joe Root plays and misses at one from Peter Siddle.
But he then plays with soft hands and rolls the ball down to third man for four.
A clip off his pads from the last to keep the strike.
Afterwards he has a quick word with Joel Wilson, who gives the England captain a tap on the back.
Talking of which...

Joel Wilson has tried to give them some bad luck as well...

England have had a fair bit of luck, they're looking a bit uncomfortable, but they're still there.
Minimum 77 overs remaining
Jason Roy punches down the ground for a couple and defends the rest of the over.
Glenn McGrath

Sometimes the best form of defense is attack. But that four, the ball turned a lot. Lyon won't be too concerned with Roy playing shots like that.
Daniel Norcross

That was a decisive, strong shot from Roy.
Jason Roy sweeps firmly off his front pad to smack Nathan Lyon for four.
