The timing is so good that the fielder at deep backward square can't catch up with that.
SSSShot! Ben Stokes rocks back to a rapid bouncer from Josh Hazlewood and pulls him away for four. Stokes on to it in a flash, straight down into the ground. Safe as houses.

Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
You'd still rather be Australia.
But 111 is not a huge amount of runs.
A partnership of 50-60 here and it's very different.
A sickener from England to start the session.
111 to win.

Very well bowled by Nathan Lyon. The field is set to encourage that drive.
Target 359
This is a proper exam now from Nathan Lyon. Baggy greens around the bat, plenty of chat, some sharp bounce and a bit of turn. The weight of 356 Test wickets behind every delivery.
Ben Stokes was almost caught in the last over of spin but flicks away neatly for a single to get off strike. Jos Buttler, probably battling his inner voice which is telling him to just flay Lyon over long off, does then drive loosely and inside edges away safely...
Every over is a heart murmur. The Western Terrace now silenced momentarily.

Listened to TMS first thing this morning. Turned off when Root got out. Followed rest of morning refreshing BBC website while went on a walk. Put TMS back on after lunch. Turned off when review went in on Bairstow. Luckily quickly enough that it wasn't out.
Paul, refreshing the website from now on, in Staffordshire
Jos Buttler with a lovely, picture-perfect forward defensive. That's half the battle.

Umpiring is easier than doing a maintenance job at work and trying to keep up with the score!

Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes put on 110 together in the World Cup final
Two freakishly talented batsmen come together for England then. They could knock off the 114 required in ramps alone in an alternative world.
Resilience and concentration are the order of the day now.

Just once, I'd like my arrival somewhere to be announced by the guy who takes the mic at Test matches. Jos Buttler the latest to have his name read out, the crowd erupt and the beans are going.
Bairstow was given another life by this successful review. He did not make the most of his reincarnation.

England are still in the game. But they need that Jos Buttler-Ben Stokes World Cup final partnership.

That is one of the worst balls that Josh Hazlewood has bowled today.
Jonny Bairstow just couldn't get the rhythm back that he had before lunch.
It's a fine 30-odd but it needed to be at least a 70-odd.
Bairstow c Labuschagne b Hazlewood 36 (Eng 245-5)
Ah. That is loose as you like.
Lunch came at a bad time for Jonny Bairstow. He's not looked the same player since and he's out to a bad shot once again I'm afriad. This is not a particularly good ball, wide from Hazlewood and Bairstow just swats it to the Steve Smith clone at second slip.
Not what was required there. Over to you Jos Buttler...

That would've been a blinder of a catch.
