Paul: I’m at a BBQ in Scotland. Nobody has any interest in cricket. Anti-socially standing in the kitchen looking at TMS updates on my phone. It’s the hope that kills you...

Understandable - A barbecue in Scotland must be about as rare as a team chasing down 350 to win a Test.

Ben Stokes is maturing in front of our very eyes. He went something like 75 balls before hitting a boundary today, and then flicked this away for six.

Stay out there Ben. Your country needs you (again).

Who edits photos while on holiday?

Nobody is buying that lie Simon. Just front it up - I'm off to listen to the cricket. Deal with it.

Well that was some morning wasn't it?

When Joe Root did this, I thought the game was up...

Now, well, it's all up for grabs isn't it?

England are 121 runs away from a famous, famous win. Or six wickets away from a truly spirit-crushing defeat...

Right, I've taken you this far.

Tom Rostance is with you for the second session.

Usually I'd go take a break now but no chance I'm not watching any of this day.

    See you later. Hopefully.

But Ben Stokes has kept toughing it out to reach 32 off 119 balls at lunch.

It wasn't all good for England in that session.

Most people would've reckoned that the hosts needed captain Joe Root to bat most of the day to pull this off.

Instead he added only two to his overnight score before making a misjudgement by skipping down to Nathan Lyon.

An inside edge off the pads and a brilliant catch from David Warner saw Root on his way.

That's the thing. Jonny Bairstow has left the ball so well, apart from two lose flashes this morning.

By doing so, he's forced the bowlers to over-pitch or stray onto the pads and then punished them.

    That's the way...

The way the two Joes batted got England back into it and now Bairstow and Stokes have shown intent. They have combined really well and runs have come quickly.

Australia will come out after lunch with a clear gameplan. Make it hard to score - how patient can Bairstow be?
