    Gone! First ball after tea!

A 74mph dobbler has done for Tim Paine. He pushes forward, gets the thinnest of edges, and Paine walks before the umpire has raised his finger. He knew.

So, still just one first-class century for Paine...

I reckon Australia have about eight fingers on the Ashes right now.

Can England prise a few more off?

Steve Smith is back out there before anyone, including the umpires, have emerged from the pavilion.

I am willing to march up there and give Smith a good telling off, for the good of the Ashes. Selfless, I know.

Can my aunt tell Smith off?published at 16:28 British Summer Time 5 September 2019

Remember once as a child my cousin made me bowl all day. Basically I couldn't get him out. At one point I couldn't take it any more and started to cry. My aunt have him a good telling-off. Is that possible in pro cricket?

Ex-Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special

That was a perfect session for Australia. The conditions in the field have been pretty tough for England and they haven't taken their chances. I don't know that we've seen a modern day batsman that compares with Steve Smith. What a technique. The way this match is going, we might see Australia bowling by the end of the day.

Not a single wicket taken in that session. It could well prove to be a decisive one.

I've live-texted on a few bad sessions for England in recent years. That is right up there.

England fail to take a wicket, throw away three chances and see their talisman get injured while Steve Smith marches on.
