Mixed bag from Curran, still finding his radar.
Labuschagne follows another full ball and Bairstow goes up for caught behind.
No one else in an England shirt is interested though.

That was a lovely shot but it was a very full half-volley to be honest.
Shot! Sam Curran serves up a full ball and Marnus Labuschagne drives it sweetly through the covers for four.
Sam Curran is on for Stuart Broad.
Good call. Broad was much looser this morning than he has been in the rest of the series.

The main discussion in the crowd today is how many runs Steve Smith is going to get. "I think he'll have a failure and only get 90," says one fella to his mate next to him. "If it swings, Curran will get him," comes the reply.

Sam Curran is my man for Smith. Smith lbw b Curran. It'll be before lunch.

Steve Smith edges Jofra Archer on to his pads and there is a stifled lbw appeal.
He then plays and misses wafting outside off.
What is going on?
Another maiden for Archer.

Steve Smith faced all of 11 deliveries before changing his gloves.
Steve Smith gets off the mark. Guess how?
Yep, clipping off his pads for a couple.
He adds a single in the same fashion off the last to keep the strike.
Safe hands.

Labuschagne played that expertly.
Stuart Broad isn't at his best. He strays onto the pads and Australia get their first run for 30 balls as Marnus Labuschagne clips it away to the fence through mid-wicket.

The Oval is like some sort of hipster foodie heaven. Wood-fired pizzas, posh pies, burgers made of meat you've never heard of. Then there's the booze. Craft ale, wine sold from a converted camper van. Artisan cricket.
Archer 4-3-4-2
Yet another maiden - five in eight now.
Jofra Archer's figures are incredible - four overs, three maidens, four runs for two wickets.

Jofra is fascinating to watch up close. It’s all in the arm as it comes whipping over. The run up is smooth, long strides as he approaches, and then the arm comes over and the batsman has less than half a second to judge line, length and speed. He’s like a well oiled machine.
Steve Smith advances down the pitch as he defends back to the bowler and Jofra Archer sends down a shy at the stumps.
Even Chris Woakes is having a chirp at Smith!
Is this a concerted effort by England to try and get under Smith's skin, having said basically nothing to him all series?

That was not a very good shot.
Oh my word. Steve Smith has flayed away at a wide ball and nearly nicked off for a duck.
He hasn't hit it, of course. But that was looooooose.

Warner wicket means the average opening partnership for both sides for the series has gone back into single figures. It is now 9.94.
