Four wickets have fallen in what appear to be perfect batting conditions.
So Steve Smith is 14 not out and Marnus Labuschagne is unbeaten on 32.
This is like if Dr Evil and Mini-Me had been competent.

A single for Death, a single for Taxes and Sam Curran changes angle to go round the wicket to Death.
Curran slides the last ball down leg and Death leaves it alone.
Australia recover from a shaky start to go into lunch 55-2, trailing by 239.
Sam Curran to bowl the final over before lunch.
Death on strike.
Is that a nickname for just Steve Smith or Smith and Marnus Labuschagne?
Smith is Death and Labuschagne is Taxes right?
Might go with it from now on.

Just let me know when Death and Taxes are no longer at the crease.
Adam, Edinburgh
Labuschagne 31, Smith 14
Is this the consequence of Chris Woakes being curiously underused at other times during the series?
His rhythm is all off.
Better last up though as he gets a bit of lift that Marnus Labuschagne just about fends down.

Sub fielder Jason Roy still has the smear that appeared at Old Trafford on his jumper. He'd get pelters in club cricket for turning up with dirty whites.
Chris Woakes is sending down some garbage on the pads.
Marnus Labuschagne whips it through mid-wicket for four to take Australia past 50.

Steve Smith leaves another ball that ends up hitting his pads, again outside the line of the stumps.
Not convincing. But then again he always seems to plot a way through the tough periods.
Much better from Sam Curran - that's a maiden.

Half of the people next to me got out of their seats to join in those Sam Curran lbw appeals against Steve Smith. Closer and closer...
Oh heck. Steve Smith shoulders arms to another and is struck on the pads again.
A loud appeal but nothing doing. That was sliding past off stump.
Smith is looking uneasy against the left-hander.

Smith doesn't look quite as comfortable against the left-arm seamer.
It looked good. Just a bit high.
Ooooooh. Big appeal for lbw as Sam Curran curves one back into Steve Smith's pads.
Not given. Will England review? They decide not to after a long chat.
Probably going over.

Tim Handley: Steve Smith is undoubtedly determined, resilient, and incredibly talented. However I disagree that its a pleasure to watch him bat. Too many ugly shots. Give me Michael Vaughan in his prime anytime.
Anything you throw at him...

Chris Woakes needs to sort the radar out and get into his rhythm. He will be feeling the pressure a little bit.
This is a poor start from Chris Woakes.
Another ball down the leg side and Marnus Labuschagne flicks it fine off his hips for four.
After a delay, Chris Woakes' second delivery is crisply clipped through mid-wicket for four.
England should have learned by now - nothing on the pads to these two.
