No runs from the first over after tea. Ben Stokes isn't happy about something. He calls on the 12th man and sends him away with a message.

I'm batting until lunch tomorrow...

England should just bat the whole evening - get another 100 runs or so and think about getting Australia in tomorrow.
There will be no issue with the weather this evening. It's glorious. It's set fair for tomorrow too. There's no need for England to do anything out of the ordinary.

Of all the people you expect to see coming out of the posh seats, Greg Rusedski is not one of them. Tim Henman, maybe. Rusedski, no.
Peter Siddle will start us off.

The Aussies are in a huddle on the outfield. Do they need a bit of a kick up the backside? If England bat through this session then Australia's hopes will look bleak.
The players re-emerge from the dressing rooms. All eyes on Joe Denly. He is 18 short of a first hundred for England.
Suggestions?

In the event of a series draw it always seems very unfair for the holders of the Ashes to keep the urn. Couldn’t some kind of test match version of the ‘super over’ be considered...

Ben Stokes is having a remarkable summer. He deserves to be on the winning side in this Ashes series.
He averages 64.06 across all formats since May. He offered one chance this afternoon but Steve Smith couldn't hold on.

Matt Banks: Really hope Denly gets his ton today just to see what form of 'just had a baby' celebration he goes for. Got to be the rock-a-bye-baby with his bat right?
England didn't lose a wicket in that session. Bliss. Denly has played some lovely shots and a couple of scary ones.

James Matthews: All very well saying Denly doing well is papering over the cracks, but the truth is there are cracks and all we have is paper. Well played.
We have a big Kent fan who works on a different desk here in the office. He's Joe Denly's number one fan. I think he's currently trying to distract himself with the football.

Denly will be having a nervous cuppa and a cucumber sandwich.
Thanks Jack.
Joe Denly's tummy must be tied in knots at tea. He'll never get a better chance to score a Test century for England.
Can England go wicketless through another session?
Here is Matthew Henry to help you find out...

Well played, England. The lead is ticking along nicely. It is a job well done in that session. There is still a bit more work to be done with the bat.
