Stokes gave that a nod of "well bowled" on the way off. It was good.

Stokes' Ashes series with the bat is over. Thanks for the memories, Ben.

The ball before spun, and I think that one did too. That's a terrific delivery. It's seen the back of Stokes but England won't might seeing that.

    Stokes b Lyon 67 (Eng 214-3)

    Whoosh. That's a beauty.

It's a shame to see the back of Ben Stokes but this has spun a long way. England won't mind it really. Jack Leach could have some fun on this pitch tomorrow if it keeps going like that.

Pitched on leg and hits the top of off.

Pole position? Australia haven't got a chance from here.

Stick another hundred on the score now and England will be in pole position.

    A really bizarre selection.

Two more to Denly. Good running although there was a misfield in the deep anyway.

Ben's like Botham - if he gets in and the bowling is military medium, like Peter Siddle, he'll give him a clonk. He's walking at the bowler here.

  11. Eng 211-2published at 63 overs

    Denly 90, Stokes 67

Stokes is walking down the pitch to Siddle - so much so that Tim Paine is having to come up to the stumps. It has not been Siddle's match at all and it's only getting worse. Short and wide and Stokes whacks it to the boundary.

The ball has gone soft now and the pitch is flat - scoring runs is like money for old rope.

These two look like they want to enjoy themselves on a lovely evening in south London. Ben Stokes crunches a drive down the ground. A fine shot.

The crowd are going to cheer every run off the bat of Joe Denly. They are willing him on. Into the nineties the Kent batsman goes with a prod to third man.

I've watched Denly closely and the closer you bowl the ball to Denly's body, the better he plays it.

Denly attacks Lyon again... Four! It wasn't the cleanest of shots down the ground but it beats a weary Josh Hazlewood at mid-off.
