That was the effort of someone who is 75.
Ben Stokes goes to pull Mitch Marsh and skews it into his pad and the ball loops up but short of Tim Paine scurrying in.
Oh dear. Paine can't get down to the ball in time and it runs away from him, allowing Stokes to pick up a single.

I know he hasn't scored a huge amount of runs, but Joe Denly has really impressed me this summer. Hopefully, we've got a lot more to come from him.
Joe, Hastings
Stokes just taps a single off Lyon.
Afghanistan have just smacked seven sixes in seven consecutive balls against Zimbabwe in a T20.
You can follow that scorecard here.

I have a funny feeling this Test match is going to hot up out in the middle. I feel England will give it plenty when they are out in the field.

Yes, Denly is no Smith or Labuschagne, but he's scored more than a lot of more established England players. I'd love him to end this summer with his head held high.
Tom in Kent
Lead by 209
England keep building towards that first target of a 250 lead. Should get plenty more than that from here, of course.
Ben Stokes smacking Nathan Lyon for six? Seen that before, here's another...
Ben Stokes opens the face and runs it down to third man for four, the ball teasing David Warner all the way to the face.
That's the 50 partnership up.

Daniel Johnson: The only thing worse than the umpiring this series has been Tim Paine’s use of DRS.

It is an indication of the few days Tim Paine is having. The last few days in particular he will have gone to his room thinking "oh no. Why didn't I bat first? Why didn't I play Mitchell Starc?"
I'm not sure that sneaks into Tim Paine's 15 worst decisions of the series.
Glenn McGrath
Ex-Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special
I think Tim Paine will be ruing not having Mitchell Starc in his team.
Lead by 204
Nathan Lyon wheels through an over and Ben Stokes taps a single.
Time for drinks.

I wonder with Tim Paine whether he has lost all confidence with his reviews. You keep your reviews if it is umpire's call so I wonder why he didn't go for that.
Ball tracking for that Joe Denly lbw shout...red, red, red. Hitting leg stump flush.
No bat on it so that decision would've been overturned.
It is indeed Paine and reviews again.
He is truly shocking at using DRS.

Marais Erasmus looked like he was going to give it. If Denly hasn't hit that then it is thudding into middle and leg.
Simon Mann

It was close but it might well be umpire's call.
Mitch Marsh returns to the fray and gets one to duck back in and hit Joe Denly on the pads.
Massive appeal. Looks a good shout...but umpire Marais Erasmus shakes his head.
Tim Paine has a chat with Marsh but ultimately opts against a review.
Paine and reviews again, is it?
