People are entitled to their opinions! I think people have good reason to be cautious after watching England bat in the last few years.

Mark Taylor: Why do you keep posting these negative tweets? Your reply was "Stay positive Frank". Why post it in the first place. Crazy.

I know it's early days but it looks like the pace has gone out of the pitch. This might be the best day to bat.

A man of many talents is Jof. He does bowl left-arm seam and left-arm before play. I watched him closely doing it at Headingley. He'd get plenty of club players out bowling with his left arm. He might get a few in county cricket too.

I think I've just seen Jofra Archer signing autographs left-handed. He's left-handed?! What?!

That last shot was lovely but Joe Denly gets hit a lot for a top order batsman. Cummins clunks one into his ribs. Denly very rarely shows pain. He's tough.
This wasn't a bad way to start the morning...
Burns 8, Denly 7
Rory Burns will know this ground better than anyone else in the England team. He captains Surrey here of course. The opener climbs into a wide delivery from Hazlewood at the end of the over, slashing it over gully for four.
It was in the air but no danger of a catch. A gift from Hazlewood.
Stay positive, Frank!

Frank: Perfect weather. Full house. Great in-game situation. All set up for a classic 108 all out for England!
Rory Burns had a good working over last night. He was hit nastily on the shoulder and the grille. Hazlewood bowls one short-ish here but it is down the leg side. There's half an appeal for caught behind but it seems the ball flicked hip not glove.

If these two can put on a 50-run opening partnership, it'll give England the energy and momentum.
It's no surprise that Josh Hazlewood will start from the other end.

My favourite thing about this summer has been the amount of kids I’ve seen at all the matches, and how giddy they get as they walk to the grounds. That feeling of going to an England Test match for the first time can’t ever be replicated.

Marcus Harris isn't on the field this morning. The suspicion is that he's injured his finger/hand when dropping Denly last night. Cameron Bancroft is on in his place.
The first over is a promising one for England. Six from it.

This is a very confident start.
There's no need for Jack Leach with Joe Denly batting like this! A lovely drive for four.

David Bracey: Jack Leach hasn’t played a stupid shot all series. What does a guy have to do to get an opener's slot?
Convert his 92s into centuries?
Burns 4, Denly 3
Joe Denly gets a nice easy flick off the pads to begin the day. That'll make him feel a bit better already.
