Moment of the summer : playing cricket on the pitch next to Bamburgh Castle with my son and his grandad during breaks in play on World Cup final day. Enjoying that amazing match in the pub with my lad wearing his Durham County sun hat as Stokes became his hero for life.

Mitchell Marsh packed plenty into his 77 minutes at the crease. Eventually he fell to Joe Root of all people.

There were just two wickets in that session for England but one of them was that of Steve Smith.

You could see how much it meant to the England players to finally dismiss him cheaply, even if the Ashes are gone.

Smith got a great reception from The Oval crowd too.

It was tough going for England in that afternoon session, they only have themselves to blame in part after that Woakes no-ball, but they're still edging closer to the win that will see them tie the series 2-2.

A lot of chirp between Wade, Paine and England, particularly Stokes, as they walk off.

    England need five wickets

That's it for the afternoon session.

The England players are deep in conversation with Matthew Wade as they walk off. It looks quite friendly.

Wade and England haven't seen eye to eye in this series.

Jodi S: My favourite moment was 'that' Ben Stokes catch v S Africa at The Oval in the World Cup opener. I was there. The two noises from the crowd, first a disbelieving 'Woah' followed by a massive cheer.

  9. Aus 167-5published at 46.4 overs

Half of The Oval thought Matthew Wade had holed out in the deep here but the ball has bounced a yard in front of the diving Sam Curran.

Not sure that's the shot to be playing two balls before tea.

That was a glorious shot - use of the feet, placement and timing.

Jack Leach is back but he's hit to the boundary straight away by Matthew Wade. England are leaking a few here. Wade is batting really well.

A good sharp catch from Jos Buttler...

  13. Aus 160-5published at 46 overs

Tim Paine has made a good start. He pushes away a second boundary in his first eight balls.

  14. Aus 156-5published at 45.4 overs

Fair play to big Stuart Broad. He has just pulled the ball back an inch inside the boundary rope after sprinting from mid-off. Plenty of fast bowlers back in the day would have waved that one through.

    Top commitment.

This is the first time in the series that number four is not the top scorer for Australia, ending a run of nine innings.

  16. Aus 153-5published at 45 overs

England need five wickets to win

Tim Paine is off the mark with a lovely drive for four. Archer is annoyed with himself for serving up a half-volley.

There are seven minutes to go until tea.

No. Missing leg. That was a speculative review in the end.

  18. Not outpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 15 September 2019

That isn't a great review in truth. It is actually missing leg stump. Tim Paine survives but the ball is moving off the pitch for Archer.

Umpire's call on leg stump I reckon.

There's no bat and it looks like it is missing leg.
