  2. Eng 267-7published at 46 overs

Nathan Lyon is done for the day, 1-37 from his 10 overs.

  3. Eng 264-7published at 45.3 overs

    It was a lovely shot.

Is this fairly sedate encounter building towards a thrilling finish?

In this situation you have a target over, possibly the 45th. You try and score 15 runs off it to effectively win the game.

  8. Eng 255-7published at 44 overs

    Target 298

It's a solid return for Marcus Stoinis, who nearly deceives Liam Plunkett with a slower ball outside the off-stump but the ball squirms away for a single. Four off the over in total.

The man dressed as a ball just tried to fling his bit of sandpaper at Glenn Maxwell to sign. It landed a couple of yards short.

Liam Plunkett comes into the middle and gets a single off the final ball. Kane Richardson has a satisfied smile on his face at the end of that over.

Richardson responds with a wicket! After Chris Woakes nudges a single, a length ball dangled outside off stump is cut straight at Usman Khawaja at point.

Now this is a good game!

  13. Eng 249-6published at 42.3 overs

Kane Richardson switches ends for his sixth over and that's a wonderful drive from Chris Woakes. It is full and wide yes, but Woakes times it perfectly to send the ball flying towards to point boundary for four.

England do need to work on manoeuvring spin bowling. Lyon has bowled nicely but nothing special and England haven't been able to manoeuvre him.

There are a lot of good spinners in the World Cup. You need to be able to score 120 runs of the two spinners' 20 overs.

  15. Eng 243-6published at 42 overs

Nathan Lyon is back for his ninth over and again proves tricky for England to get away, with just the three singles off it.

The run-rate is creeping up towards seven an over so England will need to step it up soon.

Stuart Mitchell: Moeen Ali being Moeen Ali didn't need to hit out at this point - would really consider starting Dawson over him on Thursday.

  17. Eng 240-6published at 41 overs

That brings Tom Curran to the crease and he fends off the final ball of the over. That has dragged things back a bit for Australia.

Adam Zampa ends with figures of 1-54 from his 10 overs.

Now I wonder whether we might see more of an attack. That is the type of player Curran is.

That changes the complexion! Some will say it is not a bad thing for England's lower order to deal with the pressure of a run-chase.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40.4 overs

    Moeen Ali c Richardson b Zampa 22 (Eng 239-6)

Zampa finally gets a wicket in his final over! It is a bit of a slog from Moeen Ali that isn't well timed and Kane Richardson takes the catch on the long on boundary.
