Australia's Nathan Coulter-Nile, who hit 92 off 60 balls: "It was the sort of wicket where you have to take your time and get used to the bounce. Some balls seemed to rear up and the short balls felt really quick. I don't know if it's the pitch or their bowlers - we'll charge in now and see."

Terrific match so far at the Bridge, great recovery by Smith et al - can't wait to see how the Windies take on the Aussies' pace attack.

I think they'll be happy enough after 48-4 coming out of the powerplay. Smith, Carey and Coutler-Nile in particular put together a brilliant performance.

Australia bowled out for 288published at 49 overs

Starc c Holder b Brathwaite 8 (Aus 288 all out)

Terrific work from Carlos Brathwaite at the death and West Indies do finally dismiss Australia inside the 50 overs.

Mitchell Starc can't get hold of the pull shot and picks out Jason 'safe hands' Holder at deep mid-wicket as the Windies captain snaffles his second catch of the over.

Australia will take that after falling to 79-5 under a barrage of fast, short bowling early on though.

West Indies need 289 to win.

  5. Aus 288-9published at 48.4 overs

Mitchell Starc, facing as the batsmen crossed, cracks away a pull shot for four.

Brilliant innings, he really rescued it for his team and got them to a more than respectable score. Great striking, commitment, courage, just fell in the end and picked out the tallest man.

    Coulter-Nile c Holder b Brathwaite 92 (Aus 284-9)

Chris Woakes, your record of 95 not out is safe.

Nathan Coulter-Nile misses out on becoming the first number eight to score an ODI century as he lofts a drive over the covers but miscues.

Jason Holder sets himself at deep extra cover and takes the catch above his head.

A sparkling, superb, thrilling innings comes to an end. NCN has dug his side out of the mire today.

  8. Aus 284-8published at 48.1 overs

NCN picks up two as Chris Gayle hares after it and pulls the ball inside the fence at fine third man.

    DRINK IT IN.

'Wonderful cricket' - Cottrell takes staggering catch to remove Smith

  10. Aus 282-8published at 48 overs

Good running from Australia - Mitchell Starc carves a drive that is half-stopped and Nathan Coulter-Nile calls him back for the second.

That puts NCN on strike on 90 with two overs to go. Can Australia post a 300 that looked extremely unlikely when they fell to 79-5?

  11. Aus 278-8published at 47.3 overs

Nathan Coulter-Nile picks out the fielder round the corner and then misses a wide yorker before tapping a single to move to 90 not out.

No number eight has ever recorded an ODI century - the highest ever score at that position is the 95* Chris Woakes posted versus Sri Lanka (June 2016).

    This is just SO Australia.

    They were 79-5 earlier, remember.

    Coulter-Nile 89, Starc 0

Mitchell Starc misses on the hook from his first ball and can only glove the next round the corner.

Two dots but NCN crucially keeps the strike for Australia.

Before today, Coulter-Nile's highest ODI score was 34. He had actually only made two list A fifties, with a highest score of 62.

  17. Aus 276-8published at 46.2 overs

And now Nathan Coulter-Nile swivels over mid-wicket for four more.

He's on 88 and on course for a century here!

I cannot stress this enough - he looked absolutely awful in the first over he faced. A walking wicket.

    He's turned into Ricky Ponting!

  18. Aus 272-6published at 46.2 overs

New man Mitchell Starc is at the non-striker's end as the batsmen crossed.

Nathan Coulter-Nile carves over the covers for a sumptuous four.

  20. wicket

    Cummins c Cottrell b Brathwaite 2 (Aus 268-8)

Pat Cummins cannot emulate Nathan Coulter-Nile on the hook.

The Aussie number nine miscues off a short ball from Carlos Brathwaite and Sheldon Cottrell has time to steady himself at deep mid-wicket and snaffle it.

No need for a worldie this time. Can Windies polish Australia off quickly?
