The end of Gayle then sadly, but here is how he survived being given out twice in three balls.

This target is going to be very, very tough for the West Indies now.
Gayle lbw b Starc 21 (WI 31-2)
It was only clipping but the umpire's decision remains and to the great disappointment of all but the Australian team, Gayle makes his way solemnly back to the pavilion. As always, it was fun while it lasted.

I don't think he'll get away with it this time. This one is plumb.
Gayle has been given out for the third time - and after much deliberation this time - he decides to review once again.
Let's have a look at that first wicket to fall, smartly taken by Smith.
Gayle 19 Hope 2
Starc up at 94mph again but another wide is given. Very wisely Hope is not going to play in the same way as his illustrious partner and nudges a single.

That's the at least the third time in this World Cup where the ball has hit the stumps but not dislodged the bails. Is it harder to remove the zingers?
Target 289
Not out of the middle of the mighty Gayle blade but those huge forearms have more than enough power to bludgeon it away for four, taking him past 1,000 World Cup runs. Cummins drops short and Gayle smears it away over mid-wicket for four more. Then another mis-hit sails over mid-on for two, before a more controlled pull shot rockets off the middle over the ropes for the third boundary of the over. Shot-a-ball stuff and thrilling for the crowd.
Gayle on 5 (WI 12-1)
He's a shrewd customer is Chris. Quite right to review because Hawkeye showed it to be missing the leg stump by a distance. The crowd have some good natured barracking for New Zealand umpire Chris Gaffaney.

Marais Erasmus is earning his corn. Wonderful fast bowling from Mitchell Starc.
He's been given out again, lbw this time. But again big Chris calls for a review.

That's one where you have to forgive the umpire. It was a 'woody' sound, after all.
Gayle on 5
Nothing on the UltraEdge from the bat - amazingly the sound has come from the stump. The bails are still on so Gayle stays, to great cheers from the crowd.

Gayle is pretty confident he didn't get a nick. Mitchell Starc is bowling with some fire here.
But this could be the end of Gayle. he has been given out caught behind - but he immediately has chosen to review it. He is convinced there was no edge.
Now then, big Chris is keen to get on with it, he mis-times a cut at Starc and makes no contact at all with an attempted hook at the left-arm paceman. Then a devilish delivery rises alarmingly and fizzes off the glove high over keeper Carey to bring Gayle a fortuitous four.

You may have spotted that England's women, in their ongoing game against West Indies, are wearing a slightly different kit to what England's men have been sporting in the World Cup. Same sky blue shirts, but whereas the men wear matching trousers, the women are in navy. In fact, the men are only wearing sky blue strides for this tournament. They'll revert to navy trousers for future series.

Target 289
I didn't even have time to give you the career figures of Lewis but the new man is wicketkeeper Shai Hope, who has made six centuries and 10 fifties in his 51 ODI innings. He hops back to a short one from Cummins that keeps lower than he expected, but fortunately for him still just clears over the top of the bails.
