    It's Jos time.

He doesn't middle this one but it still goes for six.

I was apprehensive coming to the ground but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The plan has always been to rotate Jos Buttler. When he is calm at the beginning that's generally when he plays his best innings.

I wasn't in the 'Jason Roy for the Test team' camp but he's slowly changing my mind. That innings was great today and at the start he was watchful. England only scored 15 runs in the first five overs.

Roy could easily open for England in the Ashes, he has shown his temperament has changed. At the beginning he was looking to be playing big shots all the time but he has matured as a person and a player and I think he has got the capabilities to play Test cricket.

Bangladesh plead for a second time for an lbw against Buttler.

I don't think this one had a lot going for it. Pitched outside leg and Buttler might have hit it too.

    Not out.

In 19 years of World Cup cricket between 1996 and 2015, England managed six centuries. They've already got three this year.

What's the plan here then? A couple of overs of consolidation for Morgan and Buttler to play themselves in and then go whack, whack, whack?

    Five singles from Mosaddek's over.

Roy took his time at the beginning and that's what he has developed as a player. His options he takes now are so much smarter. If he continues to play as he is, the Ashes are very much in reach for him.

Was Andrew Strauss an under-rated ODI cricketer? That's a handy haul of 150+ scores.

It's the third score of 150 or more by Jason Roy, Andrew Strauss is the only other England player to do that.

They have just got to be careful, England, they don't want to get bowled out for 320 trying to get 400 when 340 might be a good score. It does look as though the pitch is slowing up a bit.

  12. Eng 236-3published at 35 overs

    Buttler 6, Morgan 0

Jason Roy gets a huge ovation from both his team-mates and this crowd. A fine knock but I'd have loved to see him go on and get a double ton.

Eoin Morgan joins Jos Buttler in the middle.

It was well bowled, a bit quicker, a bit wider, the only one of that over Roy lost his shape on. He tried to hit it out of Cardiff and skewed it to cover but a fantastic knock has put England in a great position.

    Roy c Mortaza b Mehedi 153 (Eng 235-3 )

    Argh.

Was Jason Roy thinking about a perfect over? Were six sixes on his mind?

He comes down to Mehedi Hasan again, trying to hit him over the River Taff never mind into it, but slices this one into the air and the Bangladesh captain takes a safe high catch.

A thumping innings comes to an end.

Here's the Root dismissal. Not a great shot, I'll admit...

  18. Eng 217-2published at 34 overs

That'd be Joe Root who scored a hundred in the last game and fifty in the one before that. It'd be a quick re-evaluation if I was in charge.

Roy connects fully with another one but it stings into the palms of the fielder at long-on. A yard either side and that was probably four.

Poor footwork from Root - time to re-evaluate his position in the batting order. Great that Jos is in though!
