That's a terrible disappointment for fans of slow scoring the world over.

  2. Afg 72-4published at 17 overs

Colin de Grandhomme comes on for New Zealand and it is almost another maiden but Hashmattullah Shahidi finally gets off the mark, from his 20th delivery, with a push to mid-off.

  3. A flurry of wickets for New Zealandpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

After a strong start to the innings by Afghanistan, the wickets have since been tumbling.

    Here are the first three...

It has all changed in the last few overs. Lockie Ferguson has been one of the best bowlers at this tournament so far.

In the last six overs we've had four wickets - a mixture of decent, straight bowling from Jimmy Neesham and stopping the runs. Just 10 runs from those six overs.

  5. Afg 71-4published at 16 overs

    Hashmatullah 0 (14 balls), Nabi 1 (8)

A third successive maiden for Lockie Ferguson.

He looks a real handful for New Zealand as he beats the outside edge of Mohammad Nabi before getting the 34-year-old swaying at a ferocious bouncer.

  6. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

Lockie Ferguson has a leg gully in - we're officially in Test match field mode.

  7. Afg 71-4published at 15 overs

The massively experienced Mohammad Nabi is the new batsman and he gets off the mark with a clip down to long leg for a single.

The final delivery again gets Hashmatullah Shahidi playing and missing. The left-hander is still on nought off 14 deliveries.

Back to Taunton and this is how entertaining opener Hazratullah Zazai fell for 34.

It had been a very very boundary-heavy knock before that...

New record!published at 14:38 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Eng 386-6

They are going to take drinks at the fall of that wicket so let's update you on events in Cardiff.

England have posted their best-ever World Cup score, whacking 386 from their 50 overs against Bangladesh.

Jos Buttler has got a hip injury though and won't be keeping so Jonny Bairstow will take the gloves.

You can follow the Bangladesh response here.

You don't know how useful that review could have been as the innings goes on - that was an emotional decision by the captain. He used it straight away.

    Naib c Latham b Neesham 4 (Afg 70-4)

Sigh. That is a poor review from Gulbadin Naib.

It is a clear outside edge from the captain and Afghanistan have now lost four wickets for four runs in the last 21 deliveries.

New Zealand and Aleem Dar think Gulbadin Naib has been caught behind. He sends it upstairs...

Jimmy Neesham - who has figures of 2-9 from his two overs - continues for New Zealand.

  14. Afg 70-3published at 14 overs

Adam mentioned it's almost a Test match style-field for Lockie Ferguson.

It is practically Test match bowling too as a second maiden follows the wicket maiden.

  15. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Taunton

Almost a Test match-style field for Lockie Ferguson in his first over there as he finished off with just one fielder saving one on the legside to the left-handed Shahidi.

A massive momentum swing now in this game in the space of 11 balls.

But to be fair to New Zealand, they didn't look too bothered by what was happening in that opening powerplay. There's a noticeable cool about them in the field.

  16. Afg 70-3published at 13 overs

Shot! That's a good way to end a streak of 13 balls without a run as captain Gulbadin Naib slaps Jimmy Neesham back over his head for four.

    Pommie Mbangwa

When things were going well for Afghanistan in the first few overs Kane Williamson would have no doubt been saying "we just need to get one wicket!"

Afghanistan haven't been going well with their batting and you know if you get one you can start it all off. Now the complexion of the game is totally different.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.3 overs

    Rahmat c Guptill b Neesham 0 (Afg 66-3)

    66-0 has become 66-3.

Are Afghanistan on the verge of an almighty collapse?

A thick leading edge from Rahmat Shah flies to Martin Guptill at backward point who takes a good catch.

For those not immediately familiar with this ground - right behind the stand opposite where I am runs the River Tone, hence the River End name.

Many a lofted off drive has landed in there over the years, most noticeably when Chris Gayle had an eventful short stint playing for Somerset in the T20 Blast a few years ago.

This lady in the canoe might well need to stick around and do some ball fetching later on the evidence of what we've seen so far.
