We're playing 'spot the Aussie' up here in the commentary boxes and it's harder than you think. Apart from a couple of flashes of green and gold here and there, the crowd is a sea of blue, with chants of "India, India" echoing round with every boundary. Perhaps the Australians are saving up to come over for the Ashes later in the summer.

  2. Ind 164-1published at 29 overs

    Dhawan 91, Kohli 12

Shikhar Dhawan is into the nineties now. I think they'll hear the cheers across London at Lord's if he gets to his hundred.

The India fans are making a racket today. The Oval is almost entirely blue with the supporters dressed in their replica shirts.

With so many short balls being bowled in this World Cup, that shot is almost the best option.

That looked a little bit risky because it close to the keeper, but Dhawan knew exactly what he was doing.

  5. Ind 163-1published at 28.3 overs

Not quite how he meant it but four!

Pat Cummins bounces Dhawan and the left-hander attempts a ramp over the keeper. He gets it off the edge rather than the middle of the bat but Alex Carey can't get there.

  6. Ind 159-1published at 28.2 overs

It's time for another over of Pat Cummins, Australia's best bowler, against these two India batsman.

Shikhar clubs a two off the first ball.

  8. Ind 157-1published at 28 overs

    Dhawan 84, Kohli 12

Kohli and Dhawan have the spin of Glenn Maxwell to deal with now. The Aussie part-time off-spinner isn't trying to turn it big. He's just doing everything he can to keep the scoring down.

Four singles from the over - the last a quick one that tests Virat's hamstrings. He got there comfortably. He's quick.

A terrific start by India. Can they get to that England total of 386 yesterday? The'll have go something here, but don't rule it out.

India are in a great position here.

  11. Ind 153-1published at 27 overs

Australia captain Aaron Finch was not happy with something after that boundary. I'm not sure whether he was exasperatedly waving his arms at Pat Cummins for bowling too wide or the fielder for being in the wrong position.

It was in the air for a while but there was never a chance of a catch.

    Kohli 1-0 Cummins.

You can sense the occasion here - Australia want to get Kohli early.

  13. Ind 152-1published at 26.4 overs

Virat gets this one away for four. It's wide from Pat Cummins and Kohli throws his hands at it. Not the cleanest strike the great man will ever hit but four nonetheless.

  14. Ind 148-1published at 26.3 overs

A wide down the leg side from Kohli. The India captain is furious with himself for missing out.

  15. Ind 147-1published at 26.3 overs

It's now three dots from Cummins to Kohli at the start of this over. Kohli tries to clip one through a gap but picks out the fielder.

That is a loose shot from Virat - no real feet; he got excited.

  17. Ind 147-1published at 26.1 overs

    This should be box office.

Pat Cummins is brought back into the attack with Virat on strike.

A swish and a miss from the India captain to start.

  18. Ind 147-1published at 26 overs

    Dhawan 82, Kohli 5

    Here comes Dhawan again...

A skip down the pitch, a flick of the bat and the ball clears mid-on and goes for four.

Adam Zampa is taking some punishment. He has 0-40 from five overs.

The scoreboard is constantly moving - there are very few dot balls.

This is just exquisite. Kohli was punching his bat above his head.
