Rohit and Dhawan now have the joint second most century opening partnerships in ODI cricket. They are level with Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden on 16.
Leading the way are Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar with 21.
Ominously for Australia, of the previous 15 occasions Dhawan and Rohit have added 100, India have won 13 of those games.

I don't like this ploy of Stoinis trying to bounce Shikhar Dhawan. I don't think he is quick enough.
And then, as I said earlier, if it is up it us off. India are really starting to put the throttle down.
Marcus Stoinis is short again but he lacks the pace to be too threatening and Shikhar Dhawan pulls round the corner for four.
The next delivery is too full and that is a stunning shot from Dhawan as he drives over wide mid-off for a one-bounce four!
It has been a fine innings from Shikhar Dhawan so far. Here is a collection of some of his best shots for your enjoyment.

A 'fair dinkum' of Australians.
Tubbychef, Thame
You can understand Aaron Finch's thinking in bring Mitchell Starc back, they need wickets and fast.
It is watchful from Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma though as they share four singles to bring up the hundred for India.
A Mexican wave now ripples around The Oval, it is all going India's way at the moment.

Dhawan has played nicely. He rode the early storm and is just starting to play nicely. It feels like he hasn't been under pressure in reaching that fifty after the early barrage.

This is Shikhar Dhawan's 44th score of 50 or more and his eighth against Australia. He has 16 hundreds.
This is his 19th innings in England and the eighth time he has reached 50. He averages 65 in ODIs in England.
Shikhar Dhawan scampers down the track with the final delivery of the over but can only find the boundary rider in the offside. Still another productive over for India, though.
Mitchell Starc is primed to return to the attack....
Shikhar Dhawan is still taking his left hand off the bat after that blow to his thumb earlier in the innings. It doesn't seem to be hampering him though as he knocks a single down to mid-off to bring up his half century from 53 deliveries.

A 'Shane' of Australians?
George in Naples
Rohit 40, Dhawan 47
More quick running between these India batsman as three singles complete the over.
The Indian fans a loving life at The Oval, this is a great start by their team.
What was in those drinks?!
Nathan Coulter-Nile bangs one in short but Rohit Sharma is onto it in a flash and pulls over fine leg for the first six of the day!
Far too short from Adam Zampa and given the treatment by Rohit Sharma.

It was a good start from Australia but India didn't panic. Fifty overs is a long time. Get yourself in a bit.

Marcus Stoinis recovers his line but isn't particularly threatening. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are able to nudge two singles to complete the over.

Stoinis is not quick enough to bowl that. Lovely shot.
