From South Africa's point of view it was necessary to make changes, JP Duminy has really struggled. That middle order is so crucial for them because they don't have a long batting line up.

They need someone in there to solidify it and take the team forward. At the moment the pressure is on the openers to do something special.

If rain does hamper this match and we can only get a 20-over game in, you'd expect that to play into West Indies' hands.

Chris Gayle chasing a reduced target is a scary proposition for any side.

To be honest, being rained off might be South Africa's best chance of a point today

With Shai Hope moving back up to open in place of Evin Lewis, both wicketkeepers today will also open the batting - you don't see that too often.

A busy day for Hope and De Kock ahead.

Hmm. Keeping Andre Russell on for five overs in a row when hunting for wickets against a resurgent Australia doesn't look like a smart thing now by West Indies.

He's been superb in setting the tone with short, sharp bowling and his big hitting down the order is invaluable.

The Windies will hope some rest will alleviate his knee and ankle issues.

Both sides make two changes for this match. For South Africa, Aiden Markram is in for JP Duminy and left-arm seamer Beuran Hendricks, who flew over to replace injured fast bowler Dale Steyn, makes his first start of the tournament, coming in for Tabraiz Shamsi.

South Africa XI: Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Beuran Hendricks.

West Indies opener Evin Lewis is injured so Shai Hope moves up to open and Darren Bravo comes in at three. And all-rounder Andre Russell is also not fit, having crocked himself bowling a five-over spell against Australia, so fast bowler Kemar Roach comes in.

West Indies XI: Chris Gayle, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason holder, Carlos Brathwaite, Ashley Nurse, Kemar Roach, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas.

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis: "I was also looking to bowl first. You would assume that the whole game will be played in overcast conditions.

"We have played two of the strongest teams. It's a six-week tournament and if you can turn that momentum around, you can ride it. It's about not focusing on the negatives."

West Indies captain Jason Holder: "We are going to field first, obviously it is overcast and there is some rain around.

"We have reflected on the defeat to Australia which hurt us deeply but we have to move on. Take the learning out of it and make amends.

"We have to do the basics better, the batters have to take more responsibility."

And what's on the menu today?

South Africa take on West Indies at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton.

A defeat today all but ends South Africa's World Cup hopes, with Faf du Plessis' side having lost all three of their matches so far.

Even if they were to win all of the rest, they made need results elsewhere to go their way.

West Indies were brilliant in beating Pakistan and similarly brilliant for long periods against Australia last time out, only to make a few crucial errors that resulted in a 15-run defeat.

Morning! I was away at my friends' wedding over the weekend (shout out to Kyla and Paul).

So what did I (and you, if you were also away) miss?

England got their World Cup bid back on track with a 106-run defeat of Bangladesh...

Then New Zealand made it three wins from three with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Afghanistan...

And yesterday, the first major heavyweight clash of the tournament saw India beat defending champions Australia by 36 runs...
