He's had a little bit of luck but he's been a lot more positive today and looked a lot more fluent.

If he'd been at a regulatory first slip, he'd have caught that.

100 for Warnerpublished at 35.1 overs

Not the most auspicious way to reach a century but David Warner is there!

The Aussie opener is drawn into the drive and edges just past the diving wide first slip as the ball streaks away to the boundary.

Warner rips off his helmet, a broad grin spreading beneath his ragged beard before he kisses the badge and salutes the crowd.

A fine return to form after some scratchy knocks so far in this tournament. He reached three figures off 102 balls.

Shaun Marsh digs out his first ball down to third man for a single to get off the mark.

Vic called Glenn Maxwell Australia's Jos Buttler earlier.

Buttler has never played a shot that ugly.

"Nothing Jos Buttler does is ugly," concurs a colleague on the cricket desk.

    Here comes Shaun Marsh.

He was aiming towards the flats but he never got anywhere near it. It's a big wicket for Pakistan though because if he'd stuck around he would have caused mayhem.

That was a horrible horrible shot from Glenn Maxwell. The experiment hasn't quite come off.

    Maxwell b Shaheen 20 (Aus 223-3)

Glenn Maxwell was here for a fun time, not a long time. Awful shot, timbers flying.

The Aussie all-rounder goes for an almighty hoik across the line, misses it and sees his stumps rearranged by Shaheen Afridi.

A strike-rate of 200 but Australia needed more from Maxwell after promoting him to four.

Can Pakistan get on a bit of a run here?

    It's a false shot but it's a bad ball.

  13. Aus 222-2published at 33.1 overs

    Warner 94 off 97 balls

A short, wide ball first up, David Warner miscues his cut and edges through the vacant slip cordon for four. The Aussie opener is one blow away from a century.

Shaheen Afridi, who has conceded 45 runs off just six overs so far, is back into the attack.

    Good luck, young man.

It was 2007, Vic. In 1987, there were an equal number of maidens and sixes, 126 each. So far there have been 40 maidens and 103 sixes in this World Cup.

Time for a drink. Pakistan need to come up with some very good plans very quickly.

This feels like a momentary pause before a real Aussie onslaught starts.

    Warner 90, Maxwell 20

    Glenn Maxwell, come on down.

He's seen enough of the spinners and tucks into Mohammad Hafeez, launching him for four over mid-wicket and then another on the pull in front of square.

Maxwell saves the best for last, lofting down the ground for a sumptuous six.

  19. Aus 202-2published at 32 overs

Still no boundaries for Australia as Shoaib Malik again limits them to ones and twos.

  20. Aus 196-2published at 31 overs

    Warner 83, Maxwell 0

A bit of control from the Pakistan spinners now, Warner and Maxwell limited to five singles off Hafeez's fifth over.
