But Liam Plunkett removed Chris Gayle with a canny slower, short ball.

And Mark Wood got Shai Hope lbw.

And Chris Woakes should have got Chris Gayle cheaply too but Mark Wood spilled this chance when his elbows hit the ground.

Gayle of course then cashed in...

If the Morgan injury is long term I think England are in a world of trouble. Even this game could be tough to win now.

Well now. It really looked like Eoin Morgan had torn or pulled a quad muscle when he doubled over and hobbled off.

Hopefully that isn't a long-term back problem for Morgan.

England will hope they can see off the runs without him to let their captain rest.

  9. Morgan updatepublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

Eoin Morgan has a back spasm. He is unable to bat for 28 minutes at the start of England’s innings because he was off the field for that time.

England will get their chase under way very shortly, and it'll be Jack Skelton to take you through it.

These are the concerns for England, though.

Jason Roy can't bat any higher than seven for England - and as of yet, we don't know what the situation is with Eoin Morgan.

Ben Howard: Superb from England! Absolute SCENES. Hope Roy and Morgan are OK, but I am confident this is chasable without them.

Jay Barnes: Brilliant bowling performance by England. Even with injuries to Morgan & Roy, I'd expect England to comfortably chase this down in about 25 overs.

  14. 'Nice to play against some of my friends'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

England bowler Jofra Archer: "It's just another game to be honest, but it was very nice to play against some of my friends. The pitch wasn't as quick as it looked, it was a little bit slow.

"I am being supported well by the other guys. At one point they were looking like getting 300 so it was a real good effort to keep them below 220. Chris Gayle can take the game out of your hands."

Alastair Cook, on Test Match Special, says he expects Joe Root to open with Jonny Bairstow.

It makes sense but I'll be honest, I really want to see Jos Buttler walking out there to start this innings...

There were starts for West Indies - 63 from Nicholas Pooran, 39 from Shimron Hetmyer, 36 from Chris Gayle - but no-one really went on for them.

  17. Who will open for England?published at 13:56 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

Eoin Morgan has opened the batting three times before in ODIs, all for Ireland in 2007. Jos Buttler has never been higher than four in ODI cricket and nobody else has opened in this XI other than Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy.

Jofra Archer is having a quick chat with Isa Guha, big smile plastered on his face.

  19. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

Mark Wood finishes with 3-18 while Jofra Archer has 3-30. It's been a fine performance from the England fast bowlers.

Joe Root took two crucial wickets, and there was one apiece for Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett.
