You'd have to say England have had the better of the conditions today. West Indies arrived with the dampness from yesterday. They haven't played some of the brightest cricket. They made some silly decisions with the bat.

Shannon Gabriel sends down two leg-side wides and finishes with another short one that Jonny Bairstow pulls out to the man in the deep for a single.

It was short, it sat up for Joe Root, and he got enough on it. England are racing along.

A nothing ball from Shannon Gabriel and Joe Root turns on it, arcing a low-arm pull shot out over square leg for four more.

In fairness, it's not a real job.

RE Jack Skelton's job, my girlfriend recently sensed I wasn't happy in my current role and asked what I would like to do instead; when I said write the live text commentary for cricket she said that wasn't a real job, to which I replied, "well maybe we should ask Jack Skelton!" She said she didn't know who that was. It was frosty.

Andre Russell is really struggling. I understand his commitment but sometimes you have to be smart about it.

    Andre Russell looks crocked here.

Not sure he'll be OK to bowl a second over.

  11. Eng 53-0published at 7.2 overs

Short and wide from Russell and Root carves it away through point for more runs.

Sheldon Cottrell sets off in his inimitable running style, legs and arms extended and pumping like he's marching.

It's quite a sight. Anyway he prevents the boundary and holds Root to three runs.

Dre Russ starts with a half volley and Joe Root square drives it four. Lovely shot, dreadful delivery.

Andre Russell is coming into the attack. West Indies need the kind of spell he had against Pakistan.

Will his body hold up? He's carrying more injuries alone than England have in total.

  14. Eng 46-0published at 7 overs

Need 167 more runs to win

Joe Root swivels Shannon Gabriel's first ball round the corner and picks up two as short fine leg makes a half-stop.

Root then cuts out to third man and scampers two. Superb running.

A wide on height and a single off the last as Root punches into the covers and there's a misfield.

Even when West Indies were running through Pakistan, Sir Curtly Ambrose was badgering them for bowling too many poor balls.

You can rightly imagine he's not at all happy here.

    This is poor bowling.

Joe Root, down on one knee, holding the pose as the ball races through the covers for four.

    Dreamy.

Another poor long hop from Oshane Thomas, mind.

Beautiful shot! West Indies bowlers are either too full, or too short. There's no middle ground.

Jonny Bairstow has just hit the type of on drive you get misty-eyed about.

    Glorious.
