Jofra Archer can bat. He just hasn't batted a lot in ODIs yet.

  2. Eng 180-8published at 41.1 overs

First ball up is a floated wide. England will take them however they come. Ben Stokes takes a single and puts Jofra on strike.

He has six 50s in first-class cricket. He can bat a bit.

  3. Eng 178-8published at 41 overs

Forget the run a ball. Worry about the two wickets remaining. Isuru Udana is coming on. Lasith Malinga has two overs left as well...

Jofra Archer reckons he should be batting above Adil Rashid. What a chance to prove it here.

England need 55 from 54 balls as Jofra Archer is almost done first ball. Gets a leading edge but it's safe.

Two nothing shots outside off from Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid. They were playing for more spin than there was.

Sri Lanka will surely win this game from here.

Got him! That could well be curtains. Carbon copy job as Adil Rashid cuts into the keeper's gloves. Bit of extra bounce.

Jofra Archer has looked as cool as you like throughout this World Cup. Could he help England win - but with the bat this time?

    Do it for Texas, lads.

    This is fantastic drama now.

It's down to Ben Stokes. England's hope is with him. The rest haven't batted.

Currently in San Antonio Texas. Got 38mins to finish and submit university coursework, pack, check out, get to an airport and catch a flight back to Blighty but unable to take my eyes off this run chase. Fingernails gone, cleaners hammering at the doors, over caffeinated and... oh no Mo you didn't.

George, of London but maybe staying in Texas for a few more hours

This is a fantastic catch. A flatter off-spinner from Dhananjaya and Woakes was done for pace.

Oooooffff! Fire up the win predictor again and have a look!

Chris Woakes on the back foot, faster ball from the off spinner and a thin edge cut powerfully into the keeper's gloves. Good catch.

    Over to you Adil Rashid.

The win predictor on the TV has England with a 68% chance of winning from here but my latent British cynicism says it's closer than that.
