  1. NZ 30-2published at 10 overs

    Williamson 15, Taylor 15

Sheldon Cottrell comes tearing around in the deep to field a shovel from Ross Taylor, and his sunglasses come flying off as he pings the return in.

Excellent again from Kemar Roach, with just two runs from the over.

Dave Amitri: For the sake of the tournament I can live with yesterday's England result. If the Windies and Afghanistan can pull off wins today next week suddenly becomes very interesting.

  3. NZ 28-2published at 9 overs

A smattering of singles are all Williamson and Taylor can nurdle from Jason Holder's opening over.

  4. Update on Evin Lewispublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 22 June 2019

West Indies tweeted this update a minute or two ago, on Evin Lewis who left the field in the first over:

Injury Update! Lewis is experiencing some hamstring pain & is being assessed by the physio. WI will update you as time progresses.

  5. NZ 26-2published at 8.2 overs

    Carlos Brathwaite!

After taking the mick out of him earlier, he's just pulled off a terrific diving stop at mid-on to cut off a drive from Ross Taylor. Even Brathwaite allows himself a smile at that one.

A bowling change - Jason Holder is bringing himself on.

New Zealand have had better starts.

  8. NZ 25-2published at 8 overs

Kane Williamson tries to duck a Kemar Roach short ball but he gets a rap on the gloves for his troubles, and he looks irked with himself before getting in behind the next ball. Back-to-back maidens for Roach!

This is the first time New Zealand have batted first in this tournament. Much like England, they prefer chasing.

  11. NZ 24-2published at 7 overs

Kane Williamson tucks himself underneath a Sheldon Cottrell bouncer, hands and bat low, before a lovely looking drive is cut off by the man at cover for one.

Actually, they probably could have run two, but Williamson ended up on his backside as he tried to slide in at the non striker's end.

Taylor is having all sorts of trouble by not moving his front foot. If he doesn't get a stride in he's going to keep edging it.

Another terrific maiden from Kemar Roach. He's got Ross Taylor on toast.

Very lucky. That was mighty close.

  15. NZ 22-2published at 5.4 overs

Edge - and just short of Chris Gayle!

My word, Ross Taylor is having to work hard here. He keeps his feet rooted on the crease and a thick outside edge, Taylor playing across his pad, bounces just in front of Gayle.

A nice, quiet start to the game...

  17. NZ 22-2published at 5 overs

    Run-rate 4.40

Solid defence from Kane Williamson, elbows high, to end the over.

  18. NZ 22-2published at 4.3 overs

Ross Taylor strolls, rather than runs, through for a single, but he slides his bat in a second before Ashley Nurse throws down the stumps from short mid-wicket.

My blood pressure can't take a crazy run out. This has been eventful enough.

Devil's Advocate: Wow! This World Cup has finally kicked into gear. Nobody is safe!

Jack Tanner: Has the result yesterday sparked this World Cup to life?

Kay: Apparently New Zealand and India wouldn’t struggle the way we did yesterday. I wonder if people claiming that have now changed their minds?

  20. NZ 21-2published at 4 overs

Kane Williamson tucks himself in behind Kemar Roach's final delivery.
