He's played that very well. He's anesthetised the ball to ensure it doesn't carry in the air.

Ross Taylor tickles a single to fine leg, before Kane Williamson and his soft hands guide an outside edge through Chris Gayle at slip for four.
I can't emphasise how laboured Gayle looked trying to field that.
That was only the second time in World Cup history that both openers on the same side have been dismissed first ball - Sri Lanka's Thirimanne and Dilshan fell to the same fate in 2015 against Afghanistan.
What a start from Sheldon Cottrell.
That's a maiden - and he has figures of 2-1-10-2 to his name.
Hello! Oh, a beauty from Sheldon Cottrell, swinging the ball just past a jumping Kane Williamson's outside edge.
And again! It's full from Cottrell and Williamson can't resist swinging a big, booming drive at it.

Williamson 7, Taylor 7
Ooh, a thick edge from Ross Taylor, driving on the up against Kemar Roach, and he's lucky that it goes on the bounce to the man at cover.
Shot!
Full and wide from Kemar Roach and it's oh-so-easy for Ross Taylor to open his arms and club a huge drive away square for four.
Just to summarise, we've had two openers fall to the first balls they faced, an all run four, some comedy fielding and a near run-out.
We're six balls in. I love the World Cup.
Here's Kemar Roach.

Rich Kisbee: What a first over.
Well now. Evin Lewis is wandering off with an injury.
Oh, and Ross Taylor almost gets run out coming back for a third run! What is this over?!
Ross Taylor comes out to join Kane Williamson.
Watching these two run together is always an... experience.

Two in the over! What is happening?!
Oh this is so, so good from Sheldon Cottrell, and both New Zealand openers are back in the shed. It's full, straight, and Colin Munro plays all around it. Whack, off come the zing bails, and New Zealand are in a heap of trouble.
You know it's gone badly for Carlos Brathwaite when half your team is in stitches laughing at you.
And he's in the action again! He parries a Kane Williamson drive away at cover and this time Shai Hope chases after it to tidy it up.

Maz Mosam: Who's a lucky boy? My 4th game in 5 days, I now know how the TMS team must feel! Here's to a great day's cricket!
AN ALL RUN FOUR!
This is already my favourite game of the World Cup. A horror bit of fielding from Carlos Brathwaite, chasing down a back foot punch from Kane Williamson, dives after it and he goes down in installments, missing the ball by about a foot.
Kane Williamson has come out to face the second ball of the match.
Not a sentence I was expecting to write.

OUT!
What a review! First ball of the match, and Martin Guptill is walking back inside! It wasn't umpire's call, it was cannoning into leg stump, and that is out. The most brilliant of yorkers to start the match.
It's hit him on the back foot - actually it's amazing it hasn't bowled him.
He's not hit it. Umpire's call?
