That was a good innings until that moment. Faf didn't read what Pakistan had done - they brought their strike bowler on to get a wicket. Faf has thrown away all the hard work he's done. He's played straight into the hands of Pakistan.

A lot of pressure on new man David Miller now with the atmosphere electric once again.

He gets off the mark for ball.

That's the big one! Sarfaraz wafted all the other fielders out of the way and took a comfortable catch.

    Mohammad Amir. What a bowler.

The left-armer has taken the big wicket of South Africa captain Faf du Plessis. Faf tries to hoik him away but sends the ball high into the grey sky.

Wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed tells everyone to get out of his way and takes the catch.

    Game over?

But this will be a problem for South Africa. Mohammad Amir is coming back.

No team has been able to get hold of him in the tournament and now 8.38 runs an over are required.

South Africa have been drinking in the last chance saloon for a long time in this World Cup. They're looking worse for wear because of it.

It feels like South Africa have upped their intent in the last couple of overs, particularly since Van der Dussen came to the crease.

The camera looks to the skies, perhaps suggesting rain could be on the way. It's overcast but there's no rain forecast. Are they worried about DLS? Dan Norcross suggests they may be on TMS.

    Tidy over from Imad.

Faf du Plessis ends Shadab's over with a hefty sweep for four. The leg-spinner should have had a third wicket but 12 runs come from the over.

It was a terrible effort from Amir. I'm with Mickey Arthur, who was looking confused on the balcony. He should have been 10 yards straighter to catch that.

  11. SA 123-3published at 27.2 overs

Van der Dussen almost almost falls! He skies one down the ground and Mohammad Amir tries to get around from wide long-on but can't get a hand on the ball. It goes for four too.

Mickey Arthur was up on his feet on the Pakistan balcony in anticipation of the catch.

That said, Rassie van der Dussen has been the Proteas best batsman in this tournament. He has two fifties so far.

He and Du Plessis milk six singles off Imad.

Quinton de Kock may be having a difficult tournament but South Africa winning seemed a lot more likely when he was at the crease.

This feels like being a very, very limp way for South Africa to mathematically bow out of contention in this World Cup.

Yet again, their efforts with the bat seem to be lacking any drive or impetus as they let the bowlers settle into a rhythm against them rather than counter-attacking.

Thanks Jack. My long lost Kiwi brother let all Matt Henrys down last night didn't he? That 48th over wasn't great.

As I take over, Faf du Plessis reaches his fifty from 66 balls.

  18. SA 106-3published at 25 overs

Faf du Plessis continues on to 48.

That's me done though - Matt Henry has stopped gifting Carlos Brathwaite long hops and will see you through to the close of this one.

It could have been something as simple as one of Faf's spikes scraping on the ground at the same time the ball went past the bat.
