  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 29.3 overs

    Shakib lbw b Mujeeb 51 (Ban 143-3)

Shakib gone! There's no review this time. He knows he is out.

It's the returning Mujeeb who has flicked a disguised leg-spinner out of the front of his hand. It just beats the inside edge, hits the pad and then goes through to the keeper.

Afghanistan go up for everything - lbw, caught behind, stumped. It's given out lbw.

  2. Ban 142-2published at 29 overs

    Run-rate 4.90

This is a quieter period on the pitch for Bangladesh - less so in the stands. The run-rate has now dropped down below five. Mushfiqur looks a little frustrated when he can't get one away.

We did see this the other day in the India v Afghanistan match. India could not accelerate in the latter stages and only posted 224-8.

  3. How's stat?!published at 12:35 British Summer Time 24 June 2019

That is the 5th time Shakib has reached 50 at this World Cup - no batsman has got there more often (level with Root).

  4. Ban 139-2published at 28 overs

    Shakib 50, Mushfiqur 30

Shaikb already has two centuries in this tournament. He looks good for another today. The only scare was that lbw decision that was overturned.

There was the roar from the Bangladesh fans, followed by the flags waving. There has been fantastic support from them throughout the tournament. It's like a home game in Dhaka!

  6. 50 runs

50 for Shakibpublished at 27.5 overs

There it is. Shakib gets his single. He stands calmly on his bat at the non-striker's end while the crowd goes bonkers in celebration. He's having some World Cup.

Bangladesh don't want to be aggressive at this stage because they know this venue has been low-scoring. If they can lay a platform and get around 270 I think that is a very good score on this pitch.

  8. Ban 136-2published at 27 overs

    Run-rate 5.04

A maiden. You don't see that often at this stage.

Shakib tries and tries again to get the one run that'll take him to fifty but Gulbadin doesn't offer him a loose delivery. Good bowling. It's like watching someone in the nervous nineties.

  9. Ban 136-2published at 26.3 overs

It's really loud here at the Hampshire Bowl with Shakib on the brink of his fifty. He can't pierce the in-field at the moment.

Daniel Davies: I don't mind Vince in the team if both openers get a good start and set the tone. A quick fire 50 partnership for no loss is great when we have batting to come. I'd be happy though with Mo opening and Curran down the order.

  11. Ban 136-2published at 26 overs

    Shakib 49, Mushfiqur 28

That was a probing over from Mohammad Nabi but no wickets. Afghanistan really need to find a breakthrough if they're going to win this match.

This partnership is now worth 54. Shakib and Mushfiqur are doing it again.

Bangladesh aren't over extending themselves. They know they don't need to score 340 on this pitch.

  13. dropped catch

    Chance!published at 25.1 overs

You can't call this a drop. Mohammad Nabi bowls a lovely off spinner and Mushfiqur gets an inside edge as he pushes forward. The ball goes down between the wicketkeeper's legs and there's very little chance of a catch. He didn't get a glove on it.

    Thanks Jack.

This looks like a big moment. Afghanistan thought they had dismissed Shakib but he survived and is now on the brink of a fifth score of 50 or more in this tournament.

Bangladesh are going very well here, setting a fine platform.

    Can Afghanistan strike back?

  16. Ban 132-2published at 25 overs

    Shakib 48 off 57 balls

Shakib Al Hasan forehands a slower ball bouncer down the ground but misses out on four due to a diving stop on the fence. That's two.

And two more as he clips off the pads to deep backward square leg.

A single takes him to 48.

Shakib Al Hasan is only the second player to hit sixth consecutive 40+ scores in a World Cup.

Matthew Hayden was the first - he hit seven in the 2007 World Cup.

  18. Ban 126-2published at 24.1 overs

Gulbadin returns and induces a thick outside edge from Shakib...but there's no slip in place now.

Runs on the board will create pressure. If Bangladesh can get 250+ that will give them a good total to bowl at.
