  1. Pak 84-2published at 19 overs

    Target 238

New Zealand are swooping about in the field.

It's tight from Jimmy Neesham, serving up five dot balls - but that's a poor delivery, back of a length, a bit of nothing, and Babar cuts it beautifully for four!

Ilyas Najib: I just have this sneaky feeling Pakistan will do a Pakistan and make this run chase incredibly difficult for themselves.

  4. Pak 80-2published at 18 overs

Babar Azam goes on the drive to a quicker Santner delivery but he's groping at fresh air, and there's a big puff of dust as the ball hits the deck.

Edge - but safe! Babar jogs a single. Brilliant first over from Santner. Williamson might be considering bringing himself on here.

  5. Pak 77-2published at 17.1 overs

    Hello!

What a ball! Mitchell Santner's first ball rips past Babar Azam's outside edge as he stretches forward. A stunner!

If Pakistan bat out the 50 overs they will win this, that's the gameplan.

Keep it simple, don't give New Zealand any hope.

At this stage, New Zealand were 58-4.

Change of pace - here's Mitchell Santner.

Phil Slocombe: Pakistan making a great game of this, have got the run rate required to under five an over now.

  9. Pak 77-2published at 17 overs

    Target 238

A single brings Mohammad Hafeez back on side, and Lockie Ferguson picks up where he left off by ripping a 91mph beaut past his outside edge.

Edge - and it's short of Ross Taylor at slip! Taylor does incredibly well to move across and stop it running away for four. Proper cat and mouse stuff.

If you are brave of heart and you have good footwork you can get runs against Lockie Ferguson.

What a nice shot, he's such a good looking batsman.

  11. Pak 75-2published at 16.1 overs

    Oh, shot!

Gorgeous from Babar Azam, hanging back and guiding Lockie Ferguson over backward point for four. That was the most delicate of dabs.

Drinks over and done with, and Mohammad Hafeez has just come back out after what is politely called a comfort break.

    Lockie Ferguson will continue.

A quote we can all live by, there. Jeremy Coney is so very excellent.

Lockie Ferguson bowls a good bouncer. But it's better to be pitching up at this stage and then use the short ball occasionally.

Why does Mitchell Starc lead all the figures? Yes he's brisk, but Ferguson isn't much slower. If you pitch generally up as your stock ball, that pays the bills. If you want to have a car, and you want a TV then you can try something a bit different.

It's all a bit obvious from Ferguson at the moment.

  16. Pak 71-2published at 16 overs

    Hafeez 20, Babar 23

Colin de Grandhomme is milked around for a few singles, but a hint of width and Mohammad Hafeez just rolls his wrists to work him away through the on side for four.

    Lovely stuff. Drinks!

Starc's yorkers aren't a patch on Shoaib Akhtar's back in the day. He was bowling at 100mph and breaking toes. Wasim and Waquar weren't bad either. Or Malcolm Marshall or Michael Holding. Starc is not in their class.

    Mark Taylor, Rainham

Not sure Ben Stokes would agree, Mark.

    Pak 64-2published at 15 overs

    Target 238

That's a proper short ball from Lockie Ferguson, rising on Mohammad Hafeez - and he's been struck in the grille!

Hafeez tried to pull but missed and the ball has hit the peak of the helmet and then the grille. Latham and Ferguson check on him, as does the umpire, and he seems to be okay.

  19. Pak 64-2published at 14.4 overs

    Pulled for four more!

It's 90mph from Ferguson but it's a long hop, in truth, and Hafeez swings and swivels to hoick it through square leg.

  20. Pak 60-2published at 14.2 overs

When he gets that fuller length, Lockie Ferguson is all over Mohammad Hafeez.

And when he drops too short, Hafeez is brutal off that back foot. Four!

This is such a good contest.
