  1. NZ 6-1published at 2 overs

Kane Williamson drops and runs a quick single to get himself off the mark, and Colin Munro taps away the remainder of Amir's over.

  2. NZ 5-1published at 1.3 overs

That Martin Guptill dismissal doesn't get any better when you see it again. It was wide enough to leave and Guptill, no foot movement, has just dragged it on to his stumps.

That's a beauty from Amir though! Moving away, beating Williamson on the outside edge, and it's somehow not taken a nibble off the bat.

  3. NZ 5-1published at 1.2 overs

I know you never want to change a winning side but New Zealand might want to start looking at their opening options...

Kane Williamson takes his time before letting a wide delivery swing past him and through to Sarfaraz.

Kane Williamson might as well open, he's coming in so early these days.

A big drag on! He didn't get the pace of the pitch and it's a thick inside edge. Guptill's wretched form continues and once again New Zealand dip into the well of Kane Williamson.

    Guptill b Amir 5 (NZ 5-1)

    GONE! DRAGGED ON!

Oh, the noise! Mohammad Amir has bowled a wide delivery and Martin Guptill, aiming a huge, booming drive at it, has got an inside edge onto his stumps. They get splattered and Amir goes tearing away in celebration.

Already a cracking atmosphere at Edgbaston. The Pakistan fans have made their group games terrific viewing.

    Here's Mohammad Amir...

  9. NZ 5-0published at 1 over

Hello! Turn for Mohammad Hafeez from his third delivery, and Martin Guptill hustles deep in his crease to whip it away for one.

Colin Munro sweeps, but it's clunky, and the man at mid-wicket does the fielding.

I had my hat on in the car as I couldn't get the heating going but it is cold! If a New Zealander says it's chilly you know it is a bit icy.

  11. NZ 4-0published at 0.1 overs

No first ball dismissal for Martin Guptill first up!

A juicy leg stump floater from Mohammad Hafeez, and Guptill sweeps it away to long leg for four. Lovely.

    Here come the players.

Martin Guptill, who got a first-baller last time, will take the opening ball from Mohammad Hafeez.

I'd say it's about 99% Pakistan fans at Edgbaston today, with a few pockets of New Zealand fans here in there.

The New Zealand fans are wearing that retro beige kit though, which is always a pleasure to see.

Here come the players for the national anthems.

Always really nice to see the players interacting with their mascots when they walk out together. Mohammad Amir is having a right old natter with his as they stroll out.

Kevin Davies: Tauranga taken from the top of the Mount [10:50]. One of my favourite places in the world and as Mrs is a Kiwi where I hope to retire in a few years. As a Welshman with no affinity to England I am firmly rooting for Kane and the boys

Jamaica was definitely on my shortlist...

Best pound-for-pound sporting nation [see 10:50]: Going by Summer Olympic medals, New Zealand is usually beaten by Jamaica when adjusted for population. Add in part of the Windies team, and I reckon Jamaica might win.

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed: "We wanted to bat first, the conditions are out of our hands. We have a good bowling attack.

"Amir is bowling very well. We put in a complete team performance last time but our catching is a concern.

"Pakistan can do anything, we go match by match."

It's very difficult to be captain of Pakistan, I can only imagine the pressure Sarfaraz is under. You know that you are never going to be recognised as the greatest captain, it will always be Imran Khan. You will never compare.

You'd think that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has things to do rather than tweet about the toss against India - it adds a lot of pressure on Sarfaraz.
