  1. SA 94-1published at 17 overs

    Target 204

A flag flutters on the turret on Lumley Castle up above square leg. It's a serene picture but there's nothing serene about this shot from Faf du Plessis.

He gives the ball a good old clunks and bats it away for four in the direction of the castle and its ghostly residents. Shane Watson I'm talking to you, external...

  2. SA 86-1published at 16 overs

I'm going to take a punt and say Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne didn't ask for his pep talk over an energy drink.

Suranga Lakmal serves up five wides first up. It's a delivery down the leg side. Keeper Kusal Perera doesn't cover himself in glory either with a ropey effort behind the stumps.

I didn't think I would be but I'm actually a fan of away kits in cricket.

The fifty partnership came up in that over.

  6. SA 81-1published at 16 overs

    Amla 43, Du Plessis 19

Jeevan Mendis gets his line all wrong and Amla tries to swipe the ball behind him for four. The ball cannons into the wicketkeeper's shin for an inadvertent good save.

That's drinks. South Africa are very comfortable.

The timing from Hashim Amla was beautiful.

  9. SA 79-1published at 15 overs

    Target 204

Suranga Lakmal sulks at the end of his follow-through. Lovely again from Hash. The South Africa opener uses his wrists to guide the ball behind square for four more.

He looks as good as he has throughout the tournament here. Sadly it has come too late from their South Africa's chances.

They only need another 125 runs to win from 35 overs.

South Africa will be thinking they need to win well. If they just scrape over the line then they'll be thinking they haven't addressed any of the issues from this World Cup.

  11. SA 72-1published at 14 overs

Need 132 more runs to win

This one from Mitchell Starc is still the pick of the bunch for me, even if it did crush England's hopes.

Not much to report from Jeevan Mendis' first over. Three runs from it.

I was just trying to put in order the best yorkers at this World Cup. The one from Lasith Malinga to Quinton de Kock today was so good. Quinton de Kock wasn't falling over, it was just the pace and movement, that combination. It was just superb.

    Amla 35, Du Plessis 16

AB is still box office isn't he, Doc?

South Africa have missed him in this World Cup but they made the right decision not to bring him into the squad in my eyes.

Faf du Plessis tests his hamstrings with a push, sprint and stretch for one.

He found himself slightly out of position there but was up to the task. He just kept going with the width of the ball and didn't try and hit it too hard.

They ran two just in case it stopped too!

  18. SA 66-1published at 12.2 overs

Shot! Faf du Plessis does what Hashim Amla did in the previous over, lofting the ball over the inner ring, but this time it skips on for four.

    Really nice.

He wasn't even running, he just went down to the other end to plonk his bat down in courtesy fashion. He thought he had four.
