Target 204
How long until The Open? Hashim Amla has just played the most delightful chip into the green with a nine iron.
He lofts the ball over the infield to the extra cover boundary and stands to admire it. He thinks it's going for four - as do all of the fielders - but the ball bounces once and then stops dead, a foot from the rope. Amla has to quickly run two while chuckling away to himself.

These two sides have met five times before in World Cup cricket. Sri Lanka have won one, South Africa have won three and there's been one tie.
Target 204
This ground is full to the brim and they politely applaud as Hashim Amla takes advantage of another wide delivery to cut two.
It tells how good Sri Lanka's start was that South Africa are actually behind where they were.
This is South Africa's best score after 10 overs at this World Cup.
South Africa are beyond a quarter of their way to their total after just 10 overs.
The win predictor has Sri Lanka at just 2%. We saw it down at something similar against England, mind.

South Africa will be comfortable at 53-1. It would be dramatic if anything derailed them from here.

Pat: Will be sad to see Chris Gayle retire. Always excitement when he's at the crease.

That is a poor over from Thisara Perea, there was too much width on offer.
Too wide again from Thisara Perera.
Faf du Plessis crashes the ball away this time. The South Africa captain is skipping down the pitch to Thisara. The Sri Lanka all-rounder hasn't got the pace unsettle Faf.

Hashim Amla has come back to visit! It was like a wand being waved.

That's the Hashim Amla of old! What a shot!
Thisara Perera's first over was very good. This delivery in his second is rubbish. Short and wide and Hashim Amla climbs into a cut.
I still see that shot in my sleep from his 300 against England at the Oval.

He rolled over the ball with his stomach too, trust me that hurts!

That was a fantastic effort by Suranga Lakmal.
Target 204
It only gets a 1/10 for aesthetics but Suranga Lakmal prevents a couple runs with a slide on the boundary. He ends up rolling over on top of the ball but is not touching the rope when he's in contact with the leather.
It's the end result that counts.
We've seen some brilliant yorkers in this tournament. They're just going through a reel of them on the TV. Starc, Cottrell, Ferguson, Wahab to just name a few.
A batsman will always know Malinga has it up his sleeve. Du Plessis is yet to be tested with one.

I think it's been a tentative start, which you'd expect from South Africa. Their batting just hasn't got going in this tournament.
Need 168 more runs to win
A maiden from Thisara Perera! Good from the all-rounder. The pitch doesn't help matters against his medium pace but Perera keeps his line nice and tight.

There's been the odd bit of tennis ball bounce so far from this wicket. I've been watching the bowlers closely to try and work out what causes it, whether they are rolling their fingers across the seam.
