Afghanistan's highest score when batting first in a World Cup is 232.

  2. Afg 208-7published at 46 overs

Shot! On the toes of Rashid Khan from Mohammad Amir and the spinner flicks it away beautifully for four.

He scampers a single off the final delivery to keep the strike.

Four overs left. Can Afghanistan get 240?

Imagine how many runs he could have if Afghanistan stopped using him as a lower-order batsman...

  4. How's stat?!published at 13:46 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Najibullah Zadran is the highest scoring batsman for Afghanistan at this WC.

  5. Afg 203-7published at 45 overs

Rashid Khan doesn't play short bowling particularly well, does he? He's already been smashed on the helmet in one game in this tournament which meant he couldn't bowl and he's been hit again. He attempts to duck off his first ball but a well-directed Shaheen Afridi bouncer flicks off the top of his helmet and through to Sarfaraz behind the stumps.

He then nudges the final mark into the on-side to get off the mark.

Well bowled! Najibullah has batted brilliantly, he came in in a difficult situation with wickets falling, he had to rebuild. His innings has given Afghanistan something.

  7. wicket

    Najibullah b Shaheen 42 (Afg 202-7)

    Shaheen gets his revenge immediately!

It's full and straight from the enormous left-armer and Najibullah gets an inside edge on an attempted drive and the ball cannons into his back foot and then onto leg stump.

Another very good 42 from the left-hander though. Afghanistan have to get him up the order going forward.

  8. Afg 202-6published at 44.3 overs

    A boundary!

A bit floaty from Shaheen Afridi and Najibullah Zadran slices it over backward point and away to the fence.

  9. Afg 197-6published at 44 overs

Five singles come off Shadab Khan's final over - one of them off a hideous Najibullah reverse sweep which comes off the toe end of the bat and down to mid-off.

Shadab finishes with figures of 1-44.

You may have seen some 'ugly' scenes on social media today of some crowd trouble outside Headingley.

An ICC statement has been read out on TMS, which says: "We are aware of some scuffles at today's game, we are working with the police and security.

"We do not condone it and we will take appropriate action against any antisocial behaviour."

  11. Afg 192-6published at 43 overs

Shaheen Afridi has been brilliant today. He again gets Samiullah Shinwari prodding at a delivery before firing in a wide down the leg side.

A clip into the leg side earns Shinwari a single. He's taken 19 balls to score seven, though.

There's a huge appeal from Shadab Khan as he wraps Najibullah on the pad. Nigel Llong shakes his head, though.

The left-hander then gets the reverse sweep out again to get off strike. He's played that stroke well today, see below.

  14. Afg 186-6published at 41.2 overs

This is now the longest that Afghanistan have lasted batting first at this World Cup.

They probably wouldn't mind a shift to 40-over cricket.

In this tournament Sri Lanka defended 232 here at Headingley and India have defended - just about - 224 against Afghanistan.

  16. Afg 185-6published at 41 overs

Afghanistan can only add a single off the over and it comes in slightly fortuitous fashion as a defensive block skips off the mat covering a future wicket and past Haris Sohail down to long-on.

  17. Afg 184-6published at 40.3 overs

Oh and that's a beauty from Shaheen.

He gets Samiullah Shinwari coming forward, groping at the ball but it misses the outside edge and goes through to Sarfaraz Ahmed.

    Beautiful bowling from the 19-year-old.

Shaheen Afridi is going to replace Wahab Riaz.

I'm not sure that is going to improve Wahab's mood...
