The atmosphere is a bit quieter today.

You can hear the occasional bang of the drum and hoot on the horn but it's not the veracious atmosphere we're used to hearing when Pakistan are involved. A colleague went to the India v Pakistan game, as a paying punter, and when I saw him on the Tuesday after he said he still had a headache.

Shot! Najibullah whips off ankles and away to the mid-wicket fence. There was a real flourish of the bat there, glorious.

I feel sorry for the fans of both of these countries, in that neither can play full international cricket in their own country. Even if you have Presidential-style security, it's difficult to play cricket in those conditions.

  9. drinks break

    Afg 145-5published at 33 overs

A couple of singles and a wide keep the scoreboard ticking along.

The players are going to take drinks.

  12. Afg 142-5published at 32 overs

A couple of singles come off Mohammad Amir's sixth over. He's got figures of 0-16.

The game is meandering along at the moment.

Afghanistan aren't helping themselves with their random batting order. Pakistan are showing that if you give people settled roles, the results often follow.

Najibullah looks a classy player - he just needs to get himself up the order.

  15. Afg 140-5published at 31 overs

That's a nice shot from Najibullah Zadran as he flicks off his hip - front leg in the air like a flamingo - down to the square leg boundary.

Mohammad Nabi has an ungainly waft at a wide one before pulling out with Shaheen Afridi in his delivery stride. There was a fly of some sort buzzing around in front of his face.

Ilyas Najib: Losing Ikram at this stage probably does more harm to Pakistan than it does to Afghanistan. His innings has been one of the strangest I’ve ever seen in ODI cricket and I’ve been watching for 27 years now.

Mohammad Amir is coming back on for Pakistan - they want this done quickly.

Afghanistan take singles off the first four balls before Najibullah Zadran keeps out the final two deliveries.

Pakistan have so many left-arm pacers. They've got three in this side alone. England can't find one.

  20. Afg 130-5published at 29 overs

Tidy enough over from Shaheen Afridi with just four runs - two from wides - added to the total.

Najibullah Zadran gets off the mark with a nudge to the deep cover fielder.
