Listen to that crowd! They know how important early wickets - they've got Afghanistan on the ropes now.

    Hashmatullah c Imad b Shaheen 0 (Afg 27-1)

    First ball!

Fast, straight, the batsman tries to turn it to leg and spoons a leading edge. Hat-trick?

Shaheen is only 19 and he's having to put pressure on the captain to go for the review, that shows a bit of grit.

The crowd is still building but I'd say, at first glance, it's about 95% Pakistan fans, with some small pockets of Afghanistan fans. They were somewhat becalmed by the Afghanistan start, but the noise when that Gulbadin edge was confirmed leaves you in no doubt who the majority of this crowd are supporting. It's a gorgeous day here, and hot. Really, really hot. Aatif Nawaz has just wandered in to say he's picked the wrong day to wear a blazer.

Sarfaraz wasn't confident when he asked for it.

That's a huge moment. Gulbadin has been the Afghanistan batsman most in form. Shaheen had to pressurise Sarfaraz into that review, he still didn't seem certain when he asked for it.

    Gulbadin c Sarfaraz b Shaheen 15 (Afg 27-1)

The youngster has been expensive in his first over but he has struck! Sarfaraz wasn't really keen on reviewing that but he has a catch to his name now. A wide, fast ball, snicked behind and the Afghan captain is a goner.

    That's a snick...

Shaheen started running away, he was absolutely certain.

Has Shaheen struck now? He thinks so and they've reviewed it. The umpires weren't interested.

Shaheen Afridi has started poorly - he's been too full.

Stand and deliver stuff from Gulbain Naib. Afghanistan seem to be in the mood this morning.

  14. Afg 27-0published at 4.3 overs

Shaheen's blood is up, he fields off his own bowling and throws the wickets down but it's a bit hasty and it turns into two overthrows.

He's then wide again and Gulbadin bangs him away for four more! Ten off three...

You can't bowl that here. He didn't even move his feet that much but it came off the bat nicely.

That's a good way to treat Shaheen Afridi!

  17. Afg 21-0published at 4.1 overs

Shot! Afridi's first ball is a half volley and Gulbadin slaps a drive away for four more! Afghanistan off to a fine start.

And speaking of pace, Pakistan's Corey Feldman is coming on. Shaheen Afridi bowled beautifully the other day. More of the same?

The last few years have been all about spin bowling so I expected to see some more spinners at the top of the wicket-taking standings. It's been all pace.

There's not a lot of help from this pitch for the pace bowlers.
