They're playing Sweet Caroline at Lord's. Whatever next.

  2. NZ 154-9published at 42.3 overs

They've found the ball. We're back under way.

Santner has another swipe but it misses everything. Four byes.

David Warner is helping look for the ball in the stand. One man offers him a crisp. Warner can't say no. Salt and vinegar by the looks of things.

Hello! Mitch Santner smashes a six off Nathan Lyon. There are people on their feet in the stand. They've lost the ball amongst the lunchboxes.

  5. NZ 144-9published at 42 overs

Mitchell Starc ends the over with a delivery at NINETY FIVE MILES PER HOUR. Rapid.

  6. NZ 144-9published at 41.3 overs

Don't bet on this one going on much longer. Trent Boult has two good old heaves. Mitch Starc is eyeing five.

I'm not sure anyone's taken a hat-trick and been involved in another in the same game! Opportunity missed by Trent Boult.

Sho: The key to beating New Zealand is pretty simple. Any total over 230 and you get Williamson out before he gets to 50 and you've got a great chance of winning the game.

  9. NZ 144-9published at 41.2 overs

Starc is on a hat-trick here because he took a wicket at the end of his last over.

Trent Boult took a one earlier in the first innings, but blocks this delivery out.

Boult will at least have the fact that he's the only hat-trick-taker in this match.

Too big a backlift for Starc, who will clearly target the stumps, get it into the pads or stumps and target two kinds of dismissal.

    A comprehensive type of dismissal.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 41.1 overs

    Ferguson b Starc 0 (NZ 144-9)

Too good. That's no insult to Lockie Ferguson. Mitchell Starc is too good for almost everyone. The big Aussie quick bowls Ferguson with another quick delivery.

It's Starc's fourth wicket of the day.

  12. NZ 144-8published at 41 overs

The good thing for England is this match has shown that New Zealand are very beatable.

I think he almost had that, it was in the fingers, just.

  14. dropped catch

Santner dropped on 4published at 40.3 overs

This could have been the best of the lot! David Warner leaps in the air at mid-on to try and catch a clubbed shot from Santner that looked to be going over his head.

Warner grabs onto it but the ball squirms out of his grasp on the way back down.

The Aussie fielders look more stunned that Warner got there, rather than disappointed.

Lockie Ferguson, with his average of 8.8, joins Mitch Santner in the middle.

New Zealand have made a bit of a mess of this second half of the innings when they do need to use up as many overs as they can, in terms of their position in the tournament.

There's been an element of self-abuse in the dismissals, and Starc is too good for them. If they last the next 10 overs I will be surprised.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40 overs

    Sodhi lbw b Starc 5 (NZ 141-8)

You can't argue with that. The ball tracking shows it was only flicking the bails but it just looked out as Sodhi poked forward. The decision stands.

This is turning into a miserable display from New Zealand.

  18. New Zealand reviewpublished at 40 overs

It looks like Starc has a fourth wicket. Ish Sodhi is given out lbw.

The batsman takes a while before shrugging and deciding to review.

  19. NZ 141-8published at 39.5 overs

Any gleeful Aussies reading this? Your team looks really good. Have they almost got every base covered? They probably only need Maxwell to fire in that middle order to tick every box.

Starc spears in a couple more yorkers, the type of delivery that strikes fear into batsmen's mind.

Adam Wheeler: With the wickets getting drier, you win the toss (fingers crossed), bat first pragmatically, then accelerate in the last 15 overs with wickets in the bag. 260 is a winning total now.
