Oooof! The second delivery swings back in and shaves past Guptill's midriff and over the stumps by not too much. A good leave.

The floodlights are on, but it's going to be quite a while before they take any kind of effect on a glorious day in St John's Wood.

That's a good over, just the one run from it.

Mitchell Starc will take the second over.

Thank you Matt, that's two hat-tricks we have live texted on in the last week! Interesting fact - my first day at a Test match saw Dominic Cork take a hat-trick in the very first over.

Anyway, on to today and let us recap Australia's innings.

It was a hectic start as Martin Guptill spilled two early chances, either side of Aaron Finch's dismissal.

Well that was fun. Everyone loves a hat-trick.

If you're sticking with us through the interval then Tim Oscroft will take you through the highlights of that innings.

Superb finish there to a very good display in the field by New Zealand.

A great recovery after Martin Guptill put down two arguably difficult chances in the first five overs, including Usman Khawaja on nought on his second ball.

Then he stole the show with that stunner to dismiss Steve Smith and Jimmy Neesham decided to join the party with his beauty to snaffle Glenn Maxwell off his own bowling.

Hats off to Trent Boult, that was what death bowling is all about and a great illustration of why when the pressure is on, New Zealand will be a tough team to get past in this tournament.

A terrific last over - he took the fielders and pitch out of play. A little bit of reverse swing, really fine bowling.

It makes you think that Boult could have come on at 92-5. I think Williamson missed a wee trick there.

This looks like being a good game. Australia have done well to recover from where they were but has Trent Boult snatched the momentum?

Everyone in the Long Room stands and applauds the players.

HAT-TRICK! Once there was no bat it always looked plumb. The ball tracking proves it. Three reds.

    Trent Boult has his hat-trick.
