  1. wicket

WICKET Mousley c Wheater b Harmer 3published at 12:36 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Essex 245, Warwickshire 33-4

Essex spinner Simon Harmer gets in on the act at Chelmsford as the Warwickshire slide gathers pace.

Debutant Dan Mousley is the latest to go, caught behind, trying to cut the best spinner in the country.

Not the best shot for the circumstances!

Still another 63 needed to avoid the follow-on. But an old hand comes to the wicket, Tim Ambrose, to join Rob Yates, who is at least batting sensibly on 19.

  2. 50 runs

Couple of 50s for Durhampublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Durham 178-7 v Worcestershire

Ned Eckersley and Ben Raine have both made 50s for Durham this morning but the former was dismissed shortly after reaching his half-century, nicking to slip.

They rebuilt superbly though. When rain stopped play for the first time yesterday morning, Worcestershire had reduced Durham to 47-6.

  3. for Amar Virdipublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Nottinghamshire 66-7, Surrey 240

    Amar Virdi completes his five-for.

Liam Patterson-White is gone for a duck as Will Jacks takes the catch at silly point.

We could have Notts batting again very soon, should Surrey choose it.

  4. Hampshire declare at The Rose Bowlpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Hampshire 409-9 dec v Kent

Hampshire opt to have half an hour's bowling at Kent before lunch as they declare on 409-9.

Stand-in skipper Kyle Abbott is clearly backing himself to do some pre-prandial damage here, fired up no doubt after this morning's earlier golden duck.

  5. 50 runs

50 up for the Aussiespublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

Australian XI 52-1 v England Lions

The Australians have gone past 50 at Canterbury for only the loss of Joe Burns.

Marcus Harris on 16. Kurtis Patterson on 17.

England have gone with an all-pace attack so far.

Seven overs from Essex's Jamie Porter, six from Somerset's Lewis Gregory to start with. And now Sussex's Ollie Robinson and Surrey's Sam Curran are on.

  6. wicket

WICKET Patel c Burns b Virdi 12published at 12:21 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Nottinghamshire 66-6, Surrey 240

    Four wickets for Amar Virdi.

Samit Patel can't control the spining ball as it comes across him and he tries to dab down in to the legside. Rory Burns snaffles it at leg slip.

  7. wicket

    WICKET Tattersall c J Overton b Brooks 3published at 12:20 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Yorkshire 351-6 v Somerset

Jack Brooks does for Jonny Tattersall with the short ball.

The Yorkshire wicketkeeper-batsman gloves to Jamie Overton at second slip as he tries to fend off against his former team-mate.

Brooks really got some bounce out of the wicket there, which we haven't really seen up until now.

  8. wicket

Northants three downpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Northants 53-3 v Derbyshire

It's the first morning of Derbyshire v Northants at Chesterfield and thus far it's been the home side that have dominated.

Ricardo Vasconcelos started at a rapid pace but was dismissed for 30 shortly after Rob Newton and Luke Procter had already been and gone cheaply.

Now South Africa batsman Temba Bavuma and Rob Keogh are looking to rebuild things.

  9. wicket

WICKET Hameed lbw b Wiese 11published at 12:12 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Lancashire 199-3, Sussex 127

Haseeb Hameed has been trapped lbw by David Wiese after yet again failing to make a score for Lancashire. He ended a dreadful run of form by making 50 last time out against Northants that appears to have been short-lived.

His early promise in an England shirt seems a lifetime ago.

Glenn Maxwell and Rob Jones have since added 15 to take Lancs to the verge of 200.

  10. wicket

    WICKET Root c Malan b Roland-Jones 32published at 12:07 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Glamorgan 83-5, Middlesex 384

With big bro Joe playing in the World Cup final at Lord's for England, Billy looked for a time that he might at least put together a good performance himself to get a bit of family praise.

Maybe he wanted to watch on the telly? What actually happened though is Billy Root got a snorter from Toby Roland-Jones, which he edges to slip for 32.

  11. wicket

WICKET Hose c Cook b Beard 0published at 12:05 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Essex 245, Warwickshire 21-3

Adam Hose is third out at Chelmsford and Warwickshire are in a right mess.

Poor shot from Hose as he slashes outside his off stump and Sir Alastair Cook, at first slip, does well to avoid the close attentions of a flailing second slip next to him to hang onto the chance above his head.

Young left-hander Dan Mousley, on his debut, is the new man in

WICKET Crane lbw b Stevens 0published at 12:04 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Hampshire 391-9 v Kent

It's four balls too late to earn Kent a third bowling point but they have a ninth wicket - and its a fifth for Darren Stevens.

Mason Crane is trapped with a similar delivery to the one with which Stevens got Kyle Abbott.

The 43-year-old picks up the 23rd 'five-fer' of his career (and second in successive games), to leave him just seven short of 500 first-class wickets.

    Hampshire 391-8 v Kent

Darren Stevens on a hat-trick. Hampshire stand-in skipper Kyle Abbott goes first ball.

One ball left in the 109th over - and Kent now closer to an extra bonus point than Hampshire.

WICKET Mullaney lbw b Virdi 0published at 11:53 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Nottinghamshire 41-5, Surrey 240

    Ahem, BIG trouble?

Steven Mullaney can't steady a sinking ship. This delivery just doesn't really bounce from Amar Virdi and the Notts skipper is out lbw. There was spin, but it was the low, shooting nature of the ball that did for him.

Could a score 240 help set up a follow-on?! Madness.

Here's a compilation of Virdi's assault on the Notts batsmen this morning.

WICKET Moores b Virdi 12published at 11:52 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Nottinghamshire 40-4, Surrey 240

    Notts in trouble now.

For some reason, with his side three down, Tom Moores goes back and has a bit of a swing. He misses a spinning, low ball and is bowled by Amar Virdi.

WICKET Clarke c Jacks b Batty 1published at 11:49 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Nottinghamshire 40-3, Surrey 240

Joe Clarke tries to clip a turning Gareth Batty delivery into the legside and Will Jacks gobbles up a low catch at short leg. The Surrey fielder makes this look very, very easy.

    It isn't.

    Yorkshire 319-5 v Somerset

    That's the one Somerset wanted.

The Overton twins combine to get rid of Tom Kohler-Cadmore straight after he'd reached three figures. The Yorkshire batsman edges Craig to second slip where he is caught by Jamie Overton for a superb 102.

Two new batsmen at the crease now. A chance for Somerset to get stuck in.

WICKET Libby lbw b Virdi 23published at 11:40 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Nottinghamshire 35-2, Surrey 240

Jake Libby is the victim of a viciously turning delivery from Amar Virdi and heads back to the pavilion after being trapped lbw. From around the wicket, Virdi pitches on middle and off then spins the ball back towards leg stump.

Not a great deal the Notts opener could've done about that.

for Tom Kohler-Cadmorepublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 14 July 2019

    Yorkshire 313-4 v Somerset

Tom Kohler-Cadmore hits Craig Overton for a sweet off-drive to reach his first Championship ton of the season. That was his 16th boundary of this 204-ball knock.

    Nice way to get there.
