We've not seen too much of Dhoni's helicopter shot in this tournament. It's been tucked away in the hangar.

  11. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 10 July 2019

    Here comes MS Dhoni.

But which Dhoni? The one who used to be able to immaculately pace a chase or the more recent one who bats ponderously then fails to make it up at the end?

Pant just couldn't wait to play the big shot.

    Pant c De Grandhomme b Santner 32 (Ind 71-5)

    Rishabh Pant just couldn't resist.

India had scored only one off 16 balls as New Zealand, especially Mitchell Santner, turned the screw and the pressure has told.

Pant tries to smash the slow left-armer into the stands over mid-wicket but miscues and instead picks out the man, Colin de Grandhomme making no mistake.

Vital for the Kiwis to have broken that partnership.

These two look set now. They've been there long enough to know the pace of the pitch.

I've planned tests all day tomorrow for my students so I can keep up with the cricket. I'm thinking I'll have to set a couple of emergency ones this afternoon at this rate.
