New Zealand have tended to follow set plans about their bowling.

I think they need to bowl Ferguson in the first 10 for at least three overs. If you can get a couple of wickets up front it is so much easier for those later.

I thought the pitch looked reasonable, different to yesterday.

There was some excellent cricket from India this morning. Fantastic from Jadeja for the run out.

So, despite the obvious difficulties of today, the India fans are still making a wicked atmosphere. I’m at the back of the temporary stand and the bottom quarter of it is full, mostly with the same faces from yesterday. Flags are waving, the sun is out... yes, this might be a two day one-day international, but it’s still the World Cup, and India fans firmly believe their team can get to the final.

Ian Halford: Thanks to someone donating their ticket as they left yesterday, I can attend today after the tickets were donated to local clubs who’d been in the Cricket World Cup scheme. Beats watching the scoreboard from my office window.

Just a 10 minute turnaround before India start their chase.

No nonsense lunch break to contend with thankfully.

I don't think it is too bad for New Zealand. They would have said 240 minimum, maybe 250 if everything went well but it didn't.

They will take that. They will have to bowl phenomenally to defend it.

India will very confident but you never know with the pressure of a semi-final. It completely depends how New Zealand start with the ball.

BBC Weather's Nikki Berry: "A fair amount of cloud for the start of play this morning but staying dry and it looks like it should brighten up leaving more in the way of sunshine."

So New Zealand added 28 runs from 23 balls this morning and lost three wickets.

Never easy to have to tee off from the start.

They will hope their bowlers can exploit this tricky pitch and get some early India wickets.

India will be pretty delighted by that.

  9. NZ 239-8published at 50 overs

Mitchell Santner misses the last ball and it deflects off his pads down to third man for a leg bye to finish.

New Zealand finally close on 239-8, setting India 240 runs off 50 overs to reach the World Cup final.

Mitchell Santner backs to leg and slaps a fine drive down the ground but KL Rahul makes a good diving stop to prevent the boundary.

    New Zealand pick up two.

Boult drives towards Kohli in the covers and steals a sharp single.

I know you want to get every run possible but I think Santner should back himself. He is better equipped to hit the boundary.

  13. NZ 235-8published at 49.3 overs

Trent Boult does connect on the pull this time to a ball sliding down leg and scampers back for two.

  14. NZ 233-8published at 49.2 overs

Well-directed short ball from Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult misses on the pull.

There were a lot of India fans milling around by the food vans. They all went running to their seats as they heard the roar for that Tom Latham wicket.

Henry went for the leg-side heave. He didn't connect. When New Zealand are looking for sixes it is not quite happening.

New Zealand might not even bat their overs at this rate!

Boundaries needed but it's not easy to hit big on this pitch and Matt Henry skies a slog towards long on off the toe end of the bat.

Virat Kohli steadies himself and pouches it.

The batsmen started to cross but then went back to ensure Mitchell Santner is on strike for the last over.

That was the same ball that got Latham out - a leg-spinning slower ball. Latham tried to hit it to the leg side but Santner used the width and cracked it through the covers.
