A huge privilege to be at Lord's with my 9yr old son. We rode the full spectrum of emotions with 28,000 others. An unreal day. Well done to both teams. Shall never sing Sweet Caroline without a tear in my eye again. Anyone else listening to it this morning? Altogether now.... Will (still on cloud 9).

  2. Did Jofra Archer predict most nail-biting match in history?published at 11:10 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

England win the Cricket World Cup

A few months ago the World Cup wasn't even on the radar of England's new bowling star Jofra Archer. The Barbados-born paceman wasn't eligible to play.

But on Sunday, the 24-year-old found himself charged with the responsibility of bowling a super over in the World Cup final for England against New Zealand at Lord's.

Yet he might just have predicted it all. In true Nostradamus style.

The bowler's old tweets seemed to foresee the dramatic events we witnessed on Sunday - as England won after the most thrilling climax- with spooky accuracy.

    Check out his predictions here.

England win the Cricket World Cup

Sulaimon: England with the home of massive sporting action from the Wimbledon action to British GP and the king of it all was England winning the Cricket World cup on home soil. Yesterday was memorable and one to savour

MTQ: I am 15 years old and up until yesterday the best sporting drama I had ever witnessed was Aguero winning the league for city in 2012 or Liverpool's comeback against Barcelona recently but yesterday's final eclipses anything I had ever seen before.

  5. Lewis Hamilton will remember win until his 'dying day'published at 11:01 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

    Hamilton wins British Grand Prix

On a day of monumental sporting events, when the British Grand Prix was always going to struggle for attention against the competing attractions of Wimbledon and the Cricket World Cup, Formula 1's leading drivers delivered entertainment every bit as vivid and compelling as that at Lord's or the All England Club.

Lewis Hamilton took a record sixth British Grand Prix victory, with a drive that included a brief but nail-biting scrap with Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas, and then a masterful strategic decision made by Hamilton that won him the race.

Behind him, Sebastian Vettel had another day to forget, with another mistake in a racing situation to add to the long list that trails back to last year's German Grand Prix.

And his Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc and Red Bull's Max Verstappen staged a man-to-man duel for nearly half the race that will go down in history as one of the greatest pieces of racing the sport has ever seen.

    More here.

  6. Lewis Hamilton wins record sixth British Grand Prix after Sebastian Vettel crashpublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 15 July 2019

Lewis Hamilton took a record sixth British Grand Prix victory in a thrilling race featuring a crash between Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel.

Battles throughout the field created a dramatic race - by far the best of the year so far - as Hamilton benefited from a safety-car period to take a lead he never lost after Valtteri Bottas had held back an early attack from his Mercedes team-mate.

Behind them, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Red Bull's Verstappen staged a duel for the ages in disputing third place for the first third of the race.

Their exquisite driving would have been the talk of the day had it not been for the collision between the Dutchman and Leclerc's team-mate Vettel, for which the German four-time champion was given 10-second time penalty and two penalty points on his super licence.

Hamilton's victory extends his championship lead to 39 points at the effective halfway point of the championship, but the discussion will focus on Vettel, and what many will perceive as yet another error in the heat of battle - the latest in a series over the past year.

Lords was electric last night. From needing 15 from four balls, to the run out on the final ball was the craziest 28 mins of cricket I've ever witnessed. I've hugged about a dozen strangers and jumped so high I slipped in front of the seat. Whopping bruise and a thick head is so worth it!

I was attempting to conduct the church choir in Choral Evensong at St Mary's Bowdon in Greater Manchester and various score updates kept appearing courtesy of some pesky tenors, which was all very stressful! Luckily, the sermon was long enough to encompass the whole of the two super overs, which gave us an opportunity to have a discreet celebration before offering up some words of thanks in the prayers!
