  1. Aus 116-7published at 41.4 overs

Edged from Cummins... short of slip.

Broad is at the top of his game.

  2. Aus 116-7published at 41.3 overs

Stuart Broad is irresistible when he is bowling like this. Again Cummins is groping at thin air, a ball after edging one for four.

  4. Aus 112-7published at 41.1 overs

The noise levels lift further as Broad steams in. The England fast bowler beats the bat again. It's gloomy now.

    England could wrap this up.

  6. Aus 112-7published at 41 overs

Moeen Ali fires down a maiden to keep Smith quiet.

Stuart Broad sweeps in from mid-on. There's no getting the ball out of his hands. He has Pat Cummins in his sight.

That was Stuart Broad's 99th Test wicket against Australia.

  9. Aus 112-7published at 40.5 overs

Ha! The umpires have got another one wrong. The replays show that would have missed the stumps.

Australia had a review but Pattinson didn't take it upstairs.

It's the second time that's happened today.

That might just have been clipping the stumps. But is Pattinson worth a review? 50% of the batting is still in, the other 50%, Warner, is out - the rest can't bat.

Another one bites the dust! Australia are being blown away.

James Pattinson goes second ball. Broad cannons the ball into his pad from round the wicket.

    Up goes Aleem Dar's finger.

"Sacked in the morning" is the song for Tim Paine. Australia are being devoured by the Hollies.

It was definitely cheeky from Broad there. He made Paine know he'd messed up.

James Pattinson is the Aussie number eight.

Australia did not need that wicket. Paine will be disappointed, he got it higher than he wanted to, a little top edge, and a simple catch. A soft dismissal.

Oh, Tim Paine. That's a shocker!

Australia's captain has pulled one straight down deep square leg's throat.

Stuart Broad gives it the full wide-eyed, hands over the mouth face (think Ben Stokes' catch in 2015). He can't believe that Paine has gifted him a wicket like that.

    England are on the charge.

What have England seen in Steve Smith? A short point dead square of the wicket and a short mid-wicket. When he was making 687 runs in the last series, they went through every possible plan. Going off how he has started today, they will need a few more.

Has there been any work done this summer? The schedule has been tough on the players but also damaging for productivity of the UK.
