  1. NZ 202-5published at 74 overs

Jack Leach has struggled to get into a consistent length in this innings as he drops short and BJ Watling rocks back and cuts to deep point for a single.

It's interesting how none of the last 101 wickets taken by New Zealand in their home country have fallen to spin - the last one being when England last toured in early 2018 - but England have taken two wickets with spin in this innings.

They've just shown more replays of that drop by Ben Stokes.

He'll be really disappointed he's shelled that. It's definitely a catch he should have taken.

  4. NZ 201-5published at 73 overs

A maiden from Joe Root. He got through that over in next to no time. If it carries on like that England may just sneak an over or two with the new ball before lunch.

Joe Root will continue for England.

With Colin de Grandhomme in anything could happen with two spinners on.

  6. NZ 201-5published at 72 overs

That's another lovely shot from BJ Watling. He gets down low and sweeps for another boundary. He's up to 36 now.

Jack Leach straightens up after that and Watling blocks out the rest of the over.

I still think I'd rather be in England's shoes because New Zealand have to bat last and I'm not sure what the pitch will be doing by then.

The match still feels evenly poised.

  10. NZ 197-5published at 71 overs

An eventful first over from Joe Root with the boundary, drop and wicket.

Hawkeye shows that Nicholls delivery would have cannoned into leg stump. A crucial wicket for England.

The significance is the drift from Joe Root. The ball came in on the angle and there was no spin. Nicholls was playing for the spin.

    A massive wicket for England.

    Nicholls lbw b Root 41 (NZ 197-5)

    Big breakthrough!

It's nothing special from Joe Root, it just slides on with the arm but Henry Nicholls just misreads the line and is trapped infront.

Joe Root really does have a golden arm doesn't he?

I can't believe I have seen that. You would expect Stokes to catch that 10 times out of 10.

  14. dropped catch

Watling dropped on 31published at 23:27 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2019

Oh Ben Stokes! He would catch this 99 times out of 100.

BJ Watling presses forward and Joe Root induces the outside edge. It really should be caught by Stokes at slip, it's at knee height as he crouches but it pops out.

    Big chance gone for England.

  15. NZ 196-4published at 70.1 overs

That's dross from the the England captain first up as BJ Watling crunches a cut shot to the boundary.

With 10 overs until the new ball, Joe Root has turned to himself.

  17. NZ 192-4published at 70 overs

A misfield from Jofra Archer allows Henry Nicholls to get through for a couple.

Archer doesn't look at the races at all.

I am amazed by that. Live, on the first viewing, it looked like at the very least it would be umpire's call.

  19. Not outpublished at 23:25 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2019

A good review from Henry Nicholls as it hits him just outside the line of off stump.

That did keep very low though. That will encourage England.
